What’s in stock? - Styling, features, & comfort
The 2020 version of Maxsym looks edgy and power-packed; it gets all those curves that only enhance its appearance. The front features four reflective LED headlights that demonstrate excellent lighting performance and a high beam that provides clear night vision. Also, given is the two-position adjustable windscreen that reduces the wind pressure and fatigue caused by the wind noise. High-speed cruising on this one can be done with extraordinary comfort. At the rear is the modern and futuristic taillight with LED optical film and 3D dazzling flame effect. The honeycomb shape dual-pipe exhaust not only looks great but gives deep roaring exhaust sound. The new moped rides on 15-inch wheels with 120/70 and 160/60 tyres at the front and rear, respectively.

The 2020 Maxsym TL 500 benefits from a 4.5-inch TFT virtual instrument panel with the auto dimmer at the feature front. It provides the rider with practical information like average speed, distance travelled, battery voltage, fuel consumption, and coolant temperature. Not to forget the smart dimmer that automatically adapts the display brightness. The rider will be able to charge almost all electronic gadgets thanks to the USB QC 2.0 power output. The two compartments at the front provide ample space for storing smartphones and key cards.
Working on the comfort front is the moped’s braking and suspension setup. The 41 mm upside-down front fork suspension with double triple clamp improves the rigidity of the system. Further showing hard braking stability and support is the rear mono-shock with single-sided multi-link suspension. Supporting the braking setup is the 275 mm double-disc and 275 mm disc, both with ABS at the front and rear, respectively.
Mechanicals
The 2020 Maxsym TL, as expected, gets a powerful mill that allows you to enjoy every course of the journey. Its 465cc liquid-cooled DOHC mill is the first two-cylinder engine to feature in SYM lineup. On Maxsym 500, it makes a maximum power of 40 hp at 6,750 rpm along with a peak torque of 42.5 Nm at 6,250 rpm. Here, there is no belt to transfer engine power to the rear wheel; instead, the mill is coupled with a CVT gearbox that, in turn, is mated to chain final drive.

Verdict and Competitors
In Malaysia, the 2020 SYM Maxsym TL 500 will take on the likes of BMW C 400X, and Kymco Xciting-400i. From what it seems, the Maxsym is a great offering for those looking for a smart and fast companion. With all its inclusions, be it styling or mechanical, this one indeed has the appealing features. This moped offers all the features one would expect at the given price point. Though we haven’t got the chance to ride it yet, we are sure it’ll do a superb job.
