Honda NSS250 Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The Honda NSS250 is one of the most powerful and premium maxi-scooters from the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer in the Thai market. Inspired by the Forza 300 sold globally, it has proper maxi-scooter proportions and is being sold in a single variant in Thailand. The colour options available for the Honda NSS250 are maroon, black, and grey.
Honda NSS250 Design
The Honda NSS250 is a rightly proportioned scooter that seeks inspiration from the Forza 300. It looks bulky and premium for a quarter-litre scooter and has a great road presence thanks to its modern lighting setup and notable character creases on the side profile.
The Honda NSS250 has a huge apron at the front and an equally large windshield above it. The front apron houses sleek and angular dual LED headlamps positioned on the lower corners. These all-LED headlamps are characterised by sharp-looking LED DRLs over their upper edges. The LED headlamps are separated by a matt black garnished panel in the middle.
The front windscreen of the Honda NSS250 is electrically adjustable and has a gloss black lower portion and a transparent upper portion. It can be adjusted 180mm, giving all types of riders a good view of the road ahead. The lower edges of this front windscreen also have mounts for the rearview mirrors, which come integrated with LED turn indicators within them.
The Honda NSS250 has a busy-looking side profile, split floorboard with a central tunnel, and sleek body panels that flow up towards the tail section. The well-contoured seat of the NSS250 feels roomy for two full-sized adults while having split pillion grab rails beside its rearmost edge. The tail section of the Honda NSS250 looks wide and slim, with an all-LED tail lamp cluster comprising a centrally-placed LED tail lamp and LED turn indicators flanking it.
The Honda NSS250 has black alloy wheels as standard and a comprehensive instrument console. This console comprises analogue gauges for the speedometer and tachometer and a reverse LCD screen for the odometer, trip meter, clock, and MID. It is placed within a trapezoidal binnacle behind the wide handlebar, with a thick central panel with premium switches on its sides.
NSS250 Ride & Handling
Sitting on an underbone-type frame, the Honda NSS250 has a length of 2143 mm, a width of 754 mm, and a height of 1507 mm. Its wheelbase is 1510 mm, and its seat height is 780 mm. These dimensions give it a proper maxi-scooter stance, thus complementing its bulky design.
Being a maxi-scooter, comfort is the top-most priority one can expect from the Honda NSS250, and it delivers on that front. This Honda scooter has a suspension setup comprising a telescopic fork at the front and dual coil springs with a double-sided swingarm at the rear, which is tuned on a softer side for comfortable low-speed ride quality.
Also, thanks to the large 15-inch front and 14-inch rear wheels of the Honda NSS250, which is shod with a 120/70-15 tyre at the front and a 140/70-14 tyre at the rear, the scooter feels composed and maintains traction even at high-speed corners. For braking, the Honda NSS250 has a setup comprising a 256mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear, further complemented by a dual-channel ABS.
Honda NSS250 Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Honda NSS250 has a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 249.5cc engine powering its rear wheel. With a maximum power output of 22.8 bhp and a maximum torque output of 24 Nm, the Honda NSS250 is one of the most powerful quarter-litre maxi-scooters one can buy in the Thai two-wheeler market. As with any other Honda engine, this 249.5cc engine of the NSS250 feels very refined and has a stress-free nature even when the revs rise.
NSS250 Braking & Safety
For a quarter-litre scooter, the Honda NSS250 is decently equipped with modern essentials like dual-channel ABS and a keyless ignition system with a remote key. The scooter has a large under-seat storage compartment, which can store two helmets at once. However, for more storage, an optional 45-litre top box is also available.
Honda NSS250 Verdict
The Honda NSS250 scores high on-road presence with its terrific modern styling and big-bike-like proportions. Adding the typical Honda finesse in powertrain and riding dynamics, the NSS250 feels like a premium, well-engineered scooter, though we would have loved to see more modern features that could have justified the premium pricing of the scooter.
