Aprilia SR GT 200

The Aprilia SR GT 200 takes some inspiration from the other sports bikes in the lineup of this iconic Italian brand, which gives it a distinctive sporty appearance. The overall styling and stance of the SR GT 200 look sharp and athletic, which should go well with the younger two-wheeler buying audience.

The front profile of the Aprilia SR GT 200 is unmistakably Aprilia, with the scooter having a segmented triple-LED arrangement for the main headlamp. The scooter also gets LED DRL strips below the main headlamps on the sides, while having a small triangular LED light in the middle, all of which form the triple-LED headlamp setup.

The Aprilia SR GT 200 also gets a tinted large windscreen with LED turn indicators placed on the sides of its lower edge. The side profile of this athletic scooter has a busy design, with it having sporty-looking panels for the sides of the front apron and below the stepped seat, giving the scooter a slim stance. The SR GT 200 also has a split floorboard design and an aluminium clamp for the handlebar. 

Towards the rear, the Aprilia SR GT 200 continues its sleek and sharp look, with the side panels flowing towards the wide LED tail lamp arrangement at the back. The scooter misses out on a functional rear fender and instead gets a thin rear tyre hugger. The LED turn indicators are integrated within the wide tail lamp cluster, which also has a wide pillion grab handle above it.

The Aprilia SR GT 200 shares its full-LCD instrument console with the rest of the sub-200cc scooters from Aprilia sold in other markets, like the SR 125 and SXR 160. This trapezoidal full-LCD screen has readouts for the speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, clock, distance to empty and average and instantaneous fuel efficiency figures. 

The Aprilia SR GT 200 sits on a conventional double cradle steel frame and has a suspension setup comprising a 33 mm telescopic front fork with 120 mm travel and dual hydraulic coil springs with adjustable preload and 102 mm travel at the rear. While this suspension setup and travel gives the SR GT 200 the athleticism to match its edgy styling, the ride quality feels a bit stiff over unpaved roads. 

Riding on a 110/80-14 front tyre and a 130/70-13 rear tyre, the Aprilia SR GT 200 has a 260mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear for braking, which delivers sharp bite resulting in responsive braking. The tall seat height of 799 mm can be slightly bothering for shorter riders. 

One of the smallest four-stroke engines powering an Aprilia sold in the Malaysian two-wheeler market, the four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 174cc engine of the Aprilia SR GT 200 is paired with a CVT gearbox. This engine produces a maximum power output of 17.4 bhp and a maximum torque output of 16.5 Nm. 

While the Aprilia SR GT 200 doesn’t have many safety features, except for a lockable ignition keyhole and secured under-seat storage compartment, the scooter can be equipped with an electronic anti-theft system available as an additional accessory.
