Sym VF3i 185 Pro

The SYM VF3i 185 Pro shows that an underbone bike can look and feel stylish, which can be desired by younger riders over motorcycles and performance-oriented scooters. The lean stance and sharply-designed body panels of the SYM VF3i 185 Pro make it look attractive and youthful.

At the front, the SYM VF3i 185 Pro gets a sleek-looking compact front apron, which has edgy sides characterized by angular wedge-shaped daytime running LEDs on them. Even the LED turn indicators are part of these boomerang-shaped units. The lower part of this edgy-looking front apron gets a chin-like insert with a faux carbon fibre finish. The headlamp cowl is adorned with a large halogen headlamp, which is surrounded by cuts and creases and gets a tinted black visor above it.

The SYM VF3i 185 Pro continues its sharp look with a host of cuts and creases in the side profile as well. The side extensions surrounding the centre tunnel and the side body panels below the seat of the SYM VF3i 185 Pro look extremely aggressive with several creases and sharp edges. The engine, long exhaust pipe and five-spoke alloy wheels come finished in a theme of black, garnished with pin-stripes matching the primary colour of the bike.

The sleek-looking side panels of the SYM VF3i 185 Pro, placed below the slim but well-padded seat, match the overall edginess of the bike. At the rear, it gets a compact and angularly-placed LED tail lamp, below which the bike gets a long rear fender that comes fitted with turn indicators on the upper corners.

Behind the main headlamp, the SYM VF3i 185 Pro gets a simple-looking part-digital instrument console. This unit is a combination of an analogue tachometer and a blue-backlit rectangular LCD screen, which shows a speedometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, gear indicator and clock. The bike comes with a 7-litre fuel tank, the cap for which is placed below the seat. The SYM VF3i 185 Pro is also equipped with adjustable front brake and clutch levers.

The SYM VF3i 185 Pro is not an ‘all show but no go’ bike, as it comes with potent mechanical hardware under its sharp and flashy-looking skin. At the front, the SYM VF3i 185 Pro gets conventional hydraulic telescopic forks, while at the rear, it gets a sportily-tuned mono-shock. The overall suspension setup of the SYM VF3i 185 Pro feels a bit stiff, which is instrumental in making the handling of the bike agile in feel. The SYM VF3i 185 Pro is also equipped with a 250mm disc at the front and a 200mm disc at the rear. Riding on 90/80-17 front tyre and 120/70-17 rear tyre, the SYM VF3i 185 Pro has a wheelbase of 1290mm, seat height of 790mm, ground clearance of 150mm and a kerb weight of 124 kg.

The SYM VF3i 185 Pro sources its power from a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC engine, which displaces 183cc and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Claimed to be the most powerful and biggest engine for an underbone bike, this 183cc engine puts up 20 PS of maximum power output and 17.4 Nm of maximum torque output. These performance figures are similar to a 200cc performance-oriented motorcycle, making the performance of the SYM VF3i 185 Pro feel livelier.

Apart from adjustable brake and clutch levers, the SYM VF3i 185 Pro is also offered with a dual-channel ABS in its higher-spec variant, which makes it one of the very few underbone bikes in the world to get an ABS.
