Sym Tuscany Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The SYM Tuscany 150 is the latest addition to the Malaysian automaker SYM scooter lineup. Unlike the other sporty-looking scooters and maxi-scooters from SYM, the new Tuscany 150 is a retro-styled offering, which has been designed keeping the neo-retro vehicle lovers in mind. The SYM Tuscany 150 is being offered in a single variant, which is available in three colour options – red, grey and white.
Sym Tuscany Design
The SYM Tuscany 150 has an uncanny resemblance to the Italian scooters from Vespa, which is visible in its neo-retro design language that looks heavily inspired by the latter. However, SYM has managed to give the Tuscany 150 a few distinguishing elements, which try to give it its own identity.
Starting at the front, the SYM Tuscany 150 gets a hexagonal headlamp, which offers full LED illumination and comes with grey surrounds over its boundaries. This headlamp sits within a slightly protruding handlebar cowl, which looks nice and proportionate. The slanting front apron design of the SYM Tuscany 150 looks very much like that of the Vespa Sprint, but here, it gets unique-looking C-shaped LED turn indicators in its lower edges, with another hexagonal panel at the bottom central panel, which houses the SYM logo over a blacked-out part placed within it.
The entire body panels of the SYM Tuscany 150 are painted in the same colour option, including the inner front apron panel and the side body panels. With a contrasting boomerang-shaped silver accent running over the frontal part of the rear side body panels, the SYM Tuscany 150 gets a split floorboard design, much like the Vespa range of scooters. The Tuscany 150 also gets curvaceous-looking side body panels, which have a slanted design at the rear.
Towards the back, the SYM Tuscany 150 comes with its name imprinted on the back of the rear side body panels in a theme of chrome. The rear profile of the scooter comprises a trapezoidal tail light with an inverted U-shaped LED insert within it, with C-shaped LED turn indicators to its side. The wide U-shaped chrome-finished pillion grab rail looks exactly like that of the entry-level scooters from Vespa. The engine, alloy wheels and exhaust pipe cover of the scooter are finished in a theme of gloss black.
Within the wide and colour-coded handlebar cowl, the SYM Tuscany 150 gets a fully digital hexagonal instrument console with split LCD screens within it. The upper screen displays the odometer, trip meters, and digital clock, while the lower LCD panel reads out the speedometer and fuel gauge. This instrument console comes with a premium-looking matte silver finish for its surrounds.
Tuscany Ride & Handling
While the SYM Tuscany 150 brings something new to the market from SYM, the overall mechanical setup within the retro-styled skin remains conventional. The scooter gets telescopic forks at the front and a unit swing arm with a single-sided coil spring at the rear. The braking duties are taken care of by a 226mm disc brake at the front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear.
Sym Tuscany Engine & Fuel Consumption
The SYM Tuscany 150 comes with a tried-and-tested single-cylinder, air-cooled, 149.6cc engine, which also powers a couple of other scooters from SYM’s global lineup. This engine is paired with a belt-driven transmission and churns out a maximum power output of 11.6 PS and a peak torque output of 11.4 Nm, which is slightly on the lower side for a 150cc engine.
Tuscany Braking & Safety
While the SYM Tuscany 150 misses out on ABS, it does get a combined braking system (CBS) as standard, along with keyless ignition with a remote key. The scooter also comes with a lockable storage compartment beneath its seat, which though is slightly lower in space. For charging your devices on the go, the Tuscany 150 also comes with a USB charger.
Sym Tuscany Verdict
From SYM’s portfolio and point of view, the Tuscany 150 is a fresh change and a departure from the sporty and aggressive scooters that we have come across from the Malaysian brand. The timeless Italian flair might not be its original idea, but thanks to several distinctive design elements, it does look distinctive.
