Sym Maxsym Design
The SYM Maxsym TL 500 has got the perfect persona of what a maxi-scooter should look like. It has the required persona with large dimensions and well-crafted body panels, all of which combine to give it a striking road presence comparable to any middleweight sports bike.
At the front, the SYM Maxsym TL 500 has got a huge two-part front fairing, with a V-shaped all-LED headlamp mounted at the bottom of the fairing. This fairing gets an all-black plastic finish for the part above the headlamp and curved body-coloured panels beside the headlamp.
Above the central apron finished in all-black, the SYM Maxsym TL 500 gets a massive 2-position adjustable transparent windscreen, which gets faux carbon fibre touches at its bottom and rearview mirrors mounted on its lower corners. On both sides of the headlamps, you get clear lens turn indicators integrated within the fairing.
The SYM Maxsym TL 500 looks massive when viewed from the side, and is a combination of several mixed panels which give it a busy and aggressive look. The scooter comes with a split floorboard with a high running spine in the middle, which also gets a dual-tone look and accommodates the fuel tank. Then there is a large stepped-themed seat, which is wide and comfortable enough and also gets a small backrest integrated for the rider seat.
Towards the rear, the SYM Maxsym TL 500 gets broad-looking rear side body panels, which flow towards the high-rising tail lamp cluster. At the back, you get a simple-looking diamond-shaped LED tail lamp cluster, with split pillion grab rails placed above it. The long and layered exhaust pipe looks good and goes well with the rest of the design of the scooter.
The SYM Maxsym TL 500 welcomes you with its big and futuristic looking cockpit, which comprises clip-on handlebars and a three-part fully-digital instrument console. This two-part unit is a combination of a pentagonal screen with speedometer, odometer, trip meter and fuel gauge in the extreme right, a squared TFT panel for the tachometer, clock, average and instantaneous fuel consumption in the middle and a panel for tell-tale lights in the extreme left. You also get two small closable compartments recessed in the front apron, one of which gets a USB charging port.
Maxsym Ride & Handling
By the looks of it only, the SYM Maxsym TL 500 looks like a comfortable scooter. The suspension combination of upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock with single-sided multi-link suspension at the rear is tuned for the same and provides a cushy ride quality. Riding on 15-inch wheels which are shod with meaty 120/70-15 tyre at the front and 160/60-15 tyre at the back, the SYM Maxsym TL 500 is equipped with dual 275mm discs at the front and a single 275mm disc at the rear for braking.
Sym Maxsym Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the SYM Maxsym TL 500 is a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder, 8-valve, 465cc engine, which happens to be the biggest and most powerful engine SYM produces for its scooter lineup. This engine is coupled to a conventional CVT gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 40.8 PS and a peak torque output of 42.5 Nm.
Maxsym Braking & Safety
Except for ABS and a lockable ignition keyhole, there are no other safety features available in the SYM Maxsym TL 500, which makes it a bit underequipped in this aspect.
Sym Maxsym Verdict
Having a price advantage over other maxi-scooters in this segment, the SYM Maxsym TL 500 offers you a better-equipped and more powerful package, thus making it a sweet value-for-money deal. Apart from its impressive look, it also feels practical for long-distance journeys with good performance and ride quality on offer.
