The SYM Jet X offers a sporty take on the entry-level maxi-scooter category with its flashy styling and big visual appeal, which make it one of the most noteworthy products from the Malaysian two-wheeler manufacturer. Aimed at younger riders who are new to the culture of maxi-scooters, the SYM Jet X is currently offered in two variants, Standard and SE. While the Standard is offered in Lava Red, Yellow and Grey colours, the more premium SE variant is offered only in Matte Blue colour scheme.

Sym Jet X Design
SYM has left no stone unturned in trying to make the Jet X an absolute head turner. Despite its compact 150cc engine, the SYM Jet X is a proper burly-looking maxi-scooter, with all the right proportions and stance of a scooter of its cadre. Adding to its size, the SYM Jet X also gets a large number of creases all over it, which makes it an extremely sharp-looking maxi-scooter.
At the front, the SYM Jet X gets a massive front bodywork, comprising several creases and angular panels affixed together. The lower part of this front bodywork comes adorned with angular and sharp-looking dual LED headlamps, while the upper corners of the front fairing get strips of LED turn indicators. In the middle, the SYM Jet X gets a massive tinted windscreen, which gets covered inlets in the middle of it.
The massive front fairing of the SYM Jet X gets beefy-looking side extensions which flow towards the floorboard, thus giving a hefty visual bulk to the scooter. The partition in the middle of the floorboard also looks massive and gets a dual-tone treatment on its sides. The split floorboard here is roomy and gets sufficient space even for taller riders. The scooter also gets a long and well-padded seat, which hides a massive storage space beneath it.
The side panels of the SYM Jet X placed below the seat are not as outrageously sharp-looking as the front panels, but they do have a sense of aggressiveness in their look. They look wide and flow towards the tail lamp assembly in a flowing theme, characterized by a few creases along the way. At the back, it gets a massive wraparound LED tail lamp, which has a clear lens effect and comes integrated with turn indicators within it. The black alloy wheels of the SYM Jet X go well with the overall appeal of the scooter.
The SYM Jet X gets a modern-looking fully-digital instrument console with a negative display. This long rectangular display bar shows a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge and clock, with warning lamps on both the lower sides of the screen. While the instrument console is pretty informative, one can’t ignore the fact that the small fonts are hard to read while on the go.
Jet X Ride & Handling
The SYM Jet X has a basic but plush setup for the suspension combination, comprising conventional telescopic forks at the front and dual hydraulic coil springs at the back. The scooter rides on 100/90-14 front and 110/80-14 rear tubeless tyres, which offer a decent amount of grip and visual stance to the scooter. The braking duty is taken care of by a 260mm disc brake at the front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear. With a fuel tank capacity of 7.5 litres, the SYM Jet X has a seat height of 780mm and a ground clearance of 107mm.
Sym Jet X Engine & Fuel Consumption
While the SYM Jet X looks like a proper big-capacity maxi-scooter, it gets a rather small engine under its huge-looking skin. It is powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, two-valve, liquid-cooled, 149.6cc engine, which produces 12.3 PS of maximum power and 12 Nm of maximum torque. A conventional CVT channels the power produced to the rear wheel quite smoothly.
Jet X Braking & Safety
The SYM Jet X is not a heavily-equipped scooter, but it gets a few safety features like a dual-channel ABS and keyless ignition system.
Sym Jet X Verdict
There’s much more to the SYM Jet X than just its flashy-looking design, and that is a premium aura around it with a potent suspension and brake setup. While we would have loved to see more performance from the 150cc engine, it does a fair job of making the lower-speed riding duties easy and stress-free.
