Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launches all-new GLC 300 4MATIC

KUALA LUMPUR: The highly-anticipated, all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC is finally here on Malaysian soil. After making its global debut last June, the car would be available locally as a fully-imported unit.

Let's get to know the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC in detail -

Variant & price

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is offering the latest SUV in the sole GLC300 4Matic AMG Line trim which is priced at RM 429,888 (on the road without insurance). The price includes the standard 4-year warranty.

Compared to the 2020 model, the 2023 GLC is slightly larger with 60 mm and 15 mm added to its length and wheelbase respectively. While the width remains unchanged, the height is reduced by 4 mm. Also, the increased fingers lead to 70-liter more boot space than before.

Exterior

Designed on the brand’s SensualPurity philosophy, the new GLC 300 continues to showcase the same shape as before. Part of its revised design kit is -

• A new five-sided front grille
• Sharper top-of-the-line Digital Light headlamps
• More distinctive daytime running light signature with full and dashed lines
• Tweaked front bumper with a more prominent A-wing profile, more subtle air curtains, and black accents
• Rear bumper with chrome trim surrounding the exhaust finishers
• Faux skid plate

• Narrower and more organic-looking tail lights with new graphics
• Reprofiled tailgate with black trim running all across
• 20-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels

Interior

The new GLC cabin takes a radical departure from the previous model that’s been around since 2015. For instance, the SUV now gets the latest C-Class like an archaic dashboard, squarish air vents, and fewer physical controls. Also part of the setup is -

• 11.9-inch central touchscreen with a portrait orientation and slightly angled toward the driver
• 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a few display styles

Powertrain configuration

Powering the latest Mercedes-Benz is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making a maximum power of 258 PS at 5,800 rpm along with a peak torque of 400 Nm from 2,000 to 3,200 rpm. Part of the setup is a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, a 4Matic all-wheel drive system as well as a 48-volt mild hybrid system.

The car also gets an integrated starter-generator that offers a substantial output boost - 23 PS and 200 Nm. The system also enables comfortable engine start-stop and coasting.

Performance

The above-mentioned powertrain configuration allows the 2023 GLC to hit the 100 kmph mark in just .2 seconds and attain a top speed of 240 kmph.

Safety

The SUV packs several active and passive safety features along with driver assistance systems. The list includes the following -

• Passive cruise control
• 360-degree camera
• Active Parking Assist with Parktronic (assisted parking)
• Blind spot monitor
• Active Lane Keeping Assist
• Pre-Safe
• Tyre pressure monitor
• Active Brake Assist (autonomous emergency braking)

Colour

The new SUV is offered in six standard striking tones namely -

• Obsidian Black
• Graphite Gray
• Mojave Silver
• High-Tech Silver
• Spectral Blue
• Selenite Grey

Also part of the kit is Diamond White Bright and Hyacinth Red tones available at an extra cost of RM 5000.
