Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeep has completely transformed the cabin layout of the Grand Cherokee, which looks much more modern with classy-looking designs, upholsteries and features on offer. While the Limited variant can be had with either dual-tone black and brown or all-black Capri Leatherette upholstery, the Overland variant is offered with black Nappa leather as standard. Both variants have a premium faux wood finish for the central layer of the dashboard and lower spokes of the steering wheel.

The driver’s cockpit of the Jeep Grand Cherokee now looks much premium with a four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a full-TFT 10.25-inch instrument console behind it. This full-TFT screen has sleek AC vents on either side, with the upper layers of the dashboard having a soft-touch leather finish. The central console of the dashboard has a wide trapezoidal housing for the sleek AC vents, below which the SUV gets a slanted 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The centre console tapers inwards from the bottom, with this lower panel getting physical buttons for the multi-zone automatic climate control. The lower centre console has a classy-looking gloss black panel with a rotary knob for the transmission. Jeep offers the Grand Cherokee several premium features like a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, wireless charging pad, rear entertainment screens, powered tailgate and more.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to have a boxy appeal even in this latest fifth-generation version, but the Jeep has made significant efforts to make it look more premium and sleeker than before, especially at the front. With the new-age design elements, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee looks more premium and stylish with the great road presence of a high-end luxury SUV.

At the front, the fascia of the Jeep Grand Cherokee has become sleeker than before, which features the brand’s iconic seven-slat grille that tapers inwards. The slats of the grille here are placed within a gloss black panel, which has trapezoidal headlamps attached to its sides. These headlamps have all-LED illumination while also having chrome garnish below them.

Jeep has given different designs for the front bumper in both variants. The Limited variant has slim strips of LED fog lamps with chrome garnish placed within trapezoidal housings on the corners, while also having a trapezoidal air dam in the middle and a gloss black splitter at the bottom. On the other hand, the Overland variant has tiny rounded fog lamps placed within trapezoidal housings on the sides, while the rectangular air dam in the middle looks large and gets chrome surrounds with tow hooks placed within inner edges on the sides.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee looks quite conventional from the side, with the window panels having an angular look, while there is a sharp crease flowing from the headlamp to the tail lamp through the fenders and door panels. Jeep offers a range of 20-inch alloy wheel designs across the range, with the Limited variant also having an option of an 18-inch alloy wheel.

At the back, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has sleek LED combination tail lamps, which are joined by a gloss black strip with Jeep branding running between them below the trapezoidal rear windscreen. The large trapezoidal license plate housing is placed below the gloss black bar, while the rear bumper also has distinctive designs for both Limited and Overland variants, with the latter also having additional chrome surrounds for the exhaust ports.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has a suspension combination comprising of independent Macpherson struts with coil over gas-charged shock absorbers a stabilizer bar with hydroformed steel perimeter cradle in the front and an independent twist-blade with coil springs and twin-tube shock absorbers with integrated rebound springs in the rear. The Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a four-wheel drive system as standard in its more premium Overland variant, with four drive modes – auto, sport, mud/sand and snow – in both variants.

The only engine option offered in both Limited and Overland variants of the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine is the same which is also available in the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and here, it produces 285 PS of maximum power and 347 Nm of maximum torque outputs.

The comprehensive net of safety features offered in the Jeep Grand Cherokee includes active lane management system, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blind spot and cross path detection, electronic stability control, four-wheel traction control, forward collision warning, six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill descent control, hill start assist, front and rear parking assist, reverse camera, rough road cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, trailer sway damping and trailer hitch zoom.

Positioned in the league of high-end full-size luxury SUVs, the Jeep Grand Cherokee puts up its case as a comfortable and nice-looking SUV, which has a decent number of features and a plush and premium cabin.
