The extremely luxurious and well-appointed cabin of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class might be the oldest in its segment, but it still looks very much up-to-date, with top-class quality for the upholstery and trim and features on board. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has always been a handsome and opulent sedan to look at, and with this latest iteration, this sedan has only become more eye-pleasing in its appearance. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets a trapezoidal grille with rounded edges, which has horizontal chrome slats in the Avantgarde trim and a diamond-studded look with a chrome bar in the AMG-Line trim. The headlamps in both the trim levels of the E-Class have boomerang-shaped daytime running LEDs and dual LED projectors within them. The front bumper of both the trims also looks different, with the AMG Line having larger air inlets with horizontal slats in the corners, compared to the wider and hollow-themed air dams in the Avantgarde trim.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has a poised and graceful stance when one looks at it form the side. The long wheelbase, expensive-looking alloy wheels (18-inch twin-spoke on the Avantgarde and 19-inch AMG twin-spoke alloy wheels), and a prominent crease flowing through the fenders and door panels add character to the E-Class and make it look premium too.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has a posh-looking design for its rear end, with the sides of the curvaceous-looking boot lid occupied by wing-shaped all-LED combination tail lamps. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been equipped with the dynamic select system as standard, which fine-tunes the steering responses of the sedan at the press of a button. With this system, the behaviour of the suspension and throttle response can also be altered from comfort to sporty setups. The E-Class also comes with an agility control suspension system with a selective damping system for an optimal balance of ride comfort and high driving stability, depending on factors like ride characteristics, damping effect, and stabilization.

There are two powertrain options offered in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup in Malaysia. The base-spec E 200 Avantgarde comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 200 PS of maximum power and takes 7.4 seconds for the 0-100 kmph sprint. The fuel efficiency rated is 15.38 kmpl, while the top speed is 240 kmph.

On the other hand, the E 300 AMG Line has the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine in a higher state of tune, with a maximum power output rated at 260 PS. This engine enables the E-Class to reach a higher top speed of 250 kmph and take 6.2 seconds for the 0-100 kmph sprint while achieving 14.49 kmpl of fuel efficiency. Both the engines come paired with a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is armed with a host of safety features under its pre-safe system and active distance assist packages. The list of safety features offered under these packages includes airbags all around, ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, radar-based forward collision mitigation, attention assist, adaptive braking technology with predictive brake priming and automatic brake drying. It also comes packed with hill-start Assist, brake hold feature, Emergency-sensing Brake Assist, Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System, crosswind assist, trailer sway assist, Blind Spot Assist with Exit Warning Assist, and Active Parking Assist.
