The 2024 Mini 5 Door Cooper S retains its sporty theme and is void of chrome elements on the exterior. But there’s a rather generous dose of a black surround on the grille, tailgate and outside mirrors, and the tailgate. The car runs on two-tone, 18-inch ‘Slide Spoke’ alloy wheels. The interior of the 2024 Mini 5 Door Cooper S retains the minimalist theme inside and is almost identical to the 3 Door version. The cabin is upholstered in Vescin vegan leather with perforated hounds-tooth pattern and contrasting blue textile insert. The inside of the doors and the dashboard are made of two-tone fabric made from recycled polyester. The dashboard itself is dominated by a 9.4-inch diameter touchscreen unit that runs on the Mini Operating System 9. The screen is clear and super-responsive. There’s an almost total absence of physical buttons. Getting accustomed to the layers of menus and submenus will take time. The infotainment unit is connected to a multi-speaker audio system. The car gets a twist-style engine starter, below which there’s a wireless charger. The central console is neat and practical because there’s no traditional gear lever. The car gets automatic climate control that offers fast cooling. The 2024 Mini 5 Door Cooper S gets a head-up display unit (HDU) that displays information like current gear, speed, and the tachometer. The car also comes with an in-cabin camera to take videos while on the drive.

Is the Mini 5 Door spacious?

With 4,036 mm length, 1,727 mm width, and 1,425 mm height, the 2024 Mini 5 Door is more in the compact crossover class. It’s a strictly four-passenger car, despite Mini’s claim that the 5-door Cooper S can carry five passengers. The two front seats as usual are the most spacious. The seats are accommodating and nicely bolstered to keep the occupant in place, particularly while turning sharp corners at a speed. Both seats are nicely padded and come with multi-level electrical adjustability.

While there are two extra door compared to the Mini 3 Door, getting into the rear seat is still a challenge with the 5 Door. The seat itself isn’t very spacious. Adults can fit there for short trips. But the seat isn’t at all suited for a long highway journey. Taller passengers will find their knees brushing against the back of the front seat. Three occupants on the rear seat cram things up. There’s no shortage of headroom though. The dual-pane sunroof makes the cabin look spacious.

The 2024 Mini 5-Door Cooper S comes with 275 litres of cargo space. It can be expanded up to 925 litres, courtesy of the 60:40 spilt folding rear seats.

The car gets seven driving modes, of which the Go-Kart, Core, and Efficient actually impact the driving dynamics.
