MINI Countryman Electric

The Mini Countryman Electric is a whole new experience on the inside, with the funkiness quotient of the cabin taken to level max with the layout and elements on offer. Gone is the full-TFT instrument console behind the steering wheel, for it is now integrated into the large 9-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, which gets multiple display modes.

Even the two-spoke multi-functional and lower centre console with revised buttons for automatic climate control are all new. The dashboard of the Mini Countryman Electric carries a minimalist design with four slim and vertical AC vents positioned on the corners of the dashboard and sides of the centre console. 

What makes the cabin of the Mini Countryman Electric look vibrant and youthful is the super-cool ambient lighting theme. A beautiful orchestration of light and sound, the ambient lighting theme has Mini-experience modes, all of which have creative lighting patterns, sound palettes, and colour schemes. While the Standard modes are Core, Go-Kart, and Green, the optional modes are Personal, Timeless, Vivid, and Balance.

Gone are the round-themed elements of the Mini Cooper-based previous-generation Countryman, as the all-new Mini Countryman Electric has adapted to an all-new design language. While it is still a quintessential Mini in its visual appeal, the design elements have evolved for a more modern appearance. 

Take for instance, the front profile, where the Countryman Electric welcomes one with its trapezoidal headlamps and a closed grille with tapered edges and golden finish surrounds. Even the front, rear, and side skid plates get this similar golden finish in the SE All4 Exclusive variant in which it is being offered. The Countryman Electric also gets muscular haunches over the sides of the bonnet, tough-looking body cladding all around, and blacked-out mirrors and pillars.

The roof and mirrors can be specced in one of these four options – body colour, black, golden, and white. Also, there are three alloy wheel options – 18-inch Asteroid Smoke Vibrant Silver, 19-inch dual-tone Kaleido Spoke, and 20-inch dual-tone Windmill Spoke. The rear profile of the Countryman Electric has a muscular boot with vertical C-shaped LED tail lamps. 

The Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link setup at the rear of the Mini Countryman Electric are accompanied by an adaptive suspension setup, with frequency-selective dampers, which allows for the lowering of the car by 15mm for a more dynamic driving experience. 

The Mini Countryman Electric SE All4 on sale in the Malaysian car market has a dual-motor setup, which gives it the all-wheel-drive configuration. With one motor each on the front and rear axles, the dual-motor setup of the Countryman Electric delivers a maximum power output of 313 bhp and a maximum torque output of 500 Nm.

This version of the Mini Countryman Electric also returns a maximum range of 433 km from its 66.45 kWh battery pack, which is compatible with fast charging options of up to 130kW. The Countryman Electric has a top speed of 180 kmph, while it can do 0-100 kmph run in 5.6 seconds.

The sole variant of the Mini Countryman Electric on sale in Malaysia gets a driving assistant plus package as standard, which includes ADAS features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, 360-degree parking camera, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, adaptive headlamps, front and rear collision warnings and autonomous emergency braking. The Mini Countryman Electric also has eight airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, hill start assist, hill descent control, head-up display, rain sensing wipers, brake assist, and tyre pressure monitoring system. 

The Mini Countryman Electric has lots of visual drama in its exterior and interior designs, which makes it look highly appealing and futuristic inside-out. The all-electric powertrain and lots of electronic driving aids make the driving experience feel thrilling and composed.
