Jetour Dashing Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The Dashing midsize SUV is the first product from the Chinese automaker Jetour in Malaysia, which debuted in the country in the first half of 2024. The Jetour Dashing is based on the Chinese automaker’s Kunlun platform and has been made available in two variants – Prime and Signature. The colour options on offer for the Jetour Dashing are Vanilla Blue, Khaki White, Star Black, Phantom Grey and Tech Grey.
Jetour Dashing Interior & Features
The clean and contemporary layout of the interior of the Jetour Dashing gives it an upmarket feel. The dashboard features a multi-layered design with soft-touch black plastics at the top, a textured bronze layer in the middle, and a leatherette finish at the bottom. The Jetour Dashing comes standard with all-black leather upholstery in the Malaysian car market.
The driver’s cockpit of the Jetour Dashing consists of a unique-looking two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which is both tilt and telescopic adjustable and gets a gloss black theme for the spokes and an octagonal centre boss. The stretched full-TFT screen behind the steering wheel has both an instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system, which further makes the cabin look trendy and upmarket. There is a sleek layer flowing beside the cockpit, which gets AC vents integrated within it along with red accents.
The lower centre console of the Jetour Dashing has AC vents and a minimalist panel for the buttons of dual-zone automatic climate control laid vertically. At the bottom of the centre console, there is a textured panel that houses cup holders, a wireless charging pad, a transmission knob and an electronic parking brake switch.
The cabin of the Jetour Dashing is heavily equipped with premium features, such as electronically adjustable, heated, and ventilated front seats, memory function and height adjustability for the driver’s seat, ambient lighting, front and rear centre armrests, 60:40 split rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, and more.
Dashing Exterior
Despite having a curvaceous appeal in its design, the Jetour Dashing feels proper SUV-like with its high ground clearance, aggressive design language and heightened bonnet. The Dashing looks bold and imposing, with the front grille having a segmented design for the gloss black inserts. The sides of the grille have vertically stacked LED projectors for the main headlamps, accompanied by daytime running LED strips.
The road presence of the Jetour Dashing further strengthens with its nice flowing bonnet and roofline and smooth curves through the door panels and fenders. With 20-inch machined alloy wheels, the Dashing also gets door-mounted rearview mirrors, a broad hump over the rear wheels and muscular cladding over wheel arches. At the back, the Jetour Dashing has wishbone-shaped combination LED tail lamps placed horizontally on the sides of the boot lid. The sporty-looking rear diffuser of the Jetour Dashing gets reflectors on its upper corners.
Jetour Dashing Ride & Handling
With an independent suspension setup at both ends – Macpherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear, the Jetour Dashing offers a plush and comfortable ride quality at both lower and higher speeds. The three driving modes – Economy, Comfort and Sport – fine-tuned the driving experience further, though the steering feedback could have been a bit more precise.
Dashing Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Malaysian-spec Jetour Dashing comes with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine under its hood. Paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this turbo-petrol engine produces 156 PS of maximum power and 230 Nm of maximum torque output. While the engine feels refined and smooth for most of its parts, the power delivery feels a bit inconsistent.
Jetour Dashing Braking & Safety
The long safety equipment list offered in the Jetour Dashing as standard are six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, cruise control, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, reverse parking sensors, lane change assist, blind spot monitoring, lane change warning, rear cross-traffic alert, 360-degree parking camera and more.
Dashing Verdict
With its smart styling, premium features and refined turbo-petrol engine, the Dashing seems to be a nice first attempt as a debut product from Jetour in Malaysia.
