Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV 500 4MATIC arrives in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz has expanded its EQ (Electric Intelligence) lineup in Malaysia with the launch of the EQE SUV. As the name suggests, the latest model is the SUV version of the EQE sedan launched in the country last December. It is offered in a single 500 4MATIC variant, priced at RM 485,888 (on the road, with 10% sales tax, without insurance).

The new Mercedes-Benz EV runs on a dual-motor setup that produces a maximum power of 408 PS and a peak torque of 858 Nm. Feeding the motor is a 90.6 kWh 10-module battery pack that lets it travel up to 552 km on a single charge. The charging takes 4 hours 45 minutes when using a standard 22 kW AC charger. However, if you need fast charging, the 170 kW DC unit is there to help you; it can charge 10 to 80% battery in just 32 minutes.

On the exterior, the new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV boasts the signature EQ family face with a black panel grille mated to LED Digital Light headlamps. The side profile flaunts flush-fitting door handles, black side skirts, high-gloss chrome door trims, and 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light alloy wheels. Completing the look are AMG-specific bumpers, 3D helix LED tail lights, and a rear spoiler.

The EV measures 4,863 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and 1,686 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 3,030 mm. 

The EQE SUV comes equipped with an Airmatic air suspension with adjustable dampers for a smooth ride. Plus, there's rear-axle steering with a 10-degree angle, making it easier to manoeuvre.

Inside, the SUV looks almost similar to its sedan sibling. It features a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.8-inch portrait-oriented driver-facing infotainment unit powered by the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) software. Also part of the kit is an AMG Line multifunction steering wheel, AMG Line package, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a head-up display, climatised front seats, active ambient lighting, a Burmester 3D surround system with Dolby Atmos, AMG floor mats, wireless smartphone charging pad, and a panoramic sunroof.

Parts of the EV’s advanced safety kit are Blind Spot Assist, Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist (with cross-traffic function), Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, PRE-SAFE PLUS, and PRE-SAFE Impulse Side
