Toyota Camry Hybrid

Even the cabin of the Toyota Camry Hybrid has undergone a massive transformation, with it now available in a single all-black theme with a layered, waterfall-like design on the sides of the upper centre console. 

Thanks to the all-new full-TFT 12.3-inch screens for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system, the cabin of the Toyota Camry Hybrid looks much more tech-laden than before. The three-spoke leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel is new too and now gets four-way electronic adjustability with memory function. The lower centre console has a generic design with a slim panel for the automatic climate control switches and sleek AC vents below it.

The new Toyota Camry Hybrid feels plush and premium on the inside, with a plethora of comfort and convenience features like a panoramic sunroof, 9-speaker JBL audio system with subwoofer, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, ventilated front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, rear centre armrest with a touch control panel and power reclining rear seats. 

Inspired by the other new-generation global models from Toyota, the new Camry Hybrid has become sportier in its appearance, which should attract more younger generation buyers than before. At the front, the Toyota Camry Hybrid now has a more eye-catching appearance with L-shaped headlamp housings, that have bi-LED projectors within them and C-shaped LED DRLs in their inner edges.

The front profile of the Toyota Camry Hybrid also has a slim black strip between the headlamps, a massive air dam with a honeycomb mesh design LED fog lamps on its lower corners, and air curtains on the sides of the front bumper. The side profile of the sedan looks elegant, with it having 18-inch machined alloy wheels, door-mounted rearview mirrors, and a thick crease flowing through the door panels and handles. 

At the back, the Toyota Camry Hybrid has wide C-shaped tail lamps with extended and sweptback outer extensions, which now have new-age LED inserts and a wide body-coloured strip featuring Camry lettering between them. 

Based on the upgraded version of Toyota’s TNGA platform, the Toyota Camry Hybrid has Macpherson struts at the front and double wishbone setup at the rear, which are accompanied by retuned springs and stabilizers for better stability and composure at higher speeds than before. Besides paddle shifters, the Toyota Camry Hybrid also gets three driving modes – Eco, Normal and Sport, in addition to the EV mode for an electric-only driving experience.  

The hybrid electric powertrain of the Toyota Camry Hybrid is a combination of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a front-mounted electric motor and a rear-mounted battery pack.

While the engine produces 188 PS and 221 Nm, the motor churns out 136 PS and 208 Nm. Taking the battery into account, this powertrain, which is paired with an e-CVT, generates a maximum combined power output of 230 PS, while returning a class-leading fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl. 

The Toyota Camry Hybrid comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of premium ADAS features, including pre-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane tracing assist, automatic high beam and road sign assist.

It also gets other essentials like seven airbags. ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control with traction control, hill start assist, panoramic view monitor, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic auto brake, front and rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, safe exit assist and vehicle telematics system. 

In the process of transformation over its previous version, the Toyota Camry Hybrid has become more youthful and new-age in its appearance and equipment list while retaining the same old trademark reliability and efficiency, courtesy of the new fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid system.
