2023 Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ up for grabs in Malaysia, check full details

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz has expanded its electric lineup in Malaysia with the launch of two new AMG EV models - Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ and Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+. While we have discussed the former in detail separately, here the focus is on the hyperactive version of the EQE.

Price

The new Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ is offered in a sole CBU variant in Malaysia, priced at RM 649,888 (on the road without insurance). For the sake of comparison, the non-AMG EQS retails for RM 419,888.

Powertrain, range, and charging

Based on the marque’s in-house developed AMG.EA architecture, the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ is equipped with two electric motors, together producing a maximum power of 625 hp and a peak torque of 950 Nm. The motors are tied up with a 4MATIC all-wheel drive (AWD) system, allowing EV to hit the century sprint in 3.5 seconds and the top speed of 220 kmph.

Those who are not satisfied with this performance can opt for the AMG Dynamic Plus Package which helps in achieving a higher output of 687 hp and a whopping torque of 1,000 Nm. Here, the 0 to 100 kmph swift can be attained in 3.3 seconds. The torque and top speed can be further boosted to 240 kmph and 1020 Nm with the help of the Race Start feature.

Speaking about the Mercedes-AMG EQE range, the hyperactive EV can run for up to 527 km (on the WLTP cycle) on a single charge, thanks to the 90.56-kWh lithium-ion battery pack which takes 9 hours and 15 minutes to juice up when using the standard 11 kW AC charger. However, with the help of a 170 kW DC outlet, 10% to 80% SoC can be attained in 32 minutes only.

Suspension, braking, and tyres

Adding to the smooth ride and handling are -

Exterior

In terms of aesthetics, the performance EV gets several distinctive elements confirming its unique identity. These include - an AMG-specific black panel grille with ‘AMG’ lettering, gloss black front apron and air diffuser, Digital Light headlights with AMG projection, AMG side sill panels, rear spoiler, rear apron with diffuser, and 21-inch AMG lightweight alloy wheels.

Parts of the Driving Assistance Plus Package are Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Steering Assist, Extended automatic restart in traffic jams, Evasive manoeuvre support, and Pre-Safe impulse side.

With each purchase of Mercedes-AMG EQE, the automaker offers a standard 4-year warranty for the vehicle and a 10-year/250,000 km warranty for the battery pack.
