Sym CRUiSYM 250i Review 2024
Abhishek Katariya says
The SYM Cruisym 250i is a 250cc maxi-scooter from SYM, which is one of the top-ranked scooter manufacturers from Taiwan. With its 250cc engine and maxi-scooter styling, the SYM Cruisym 250i aims to provide a fine balance between being an urban commuter and a long-distance tourer. The stylish SYM Cruisym 250i is available in the Malaysian market in three different paint scheme options red, black and white.
Sym CRUiSYM 250i Design
For a 250cc maxi-scooter, the SYM Cruisym 250i has got the perfect size and dimensions, which give it a great road presence. Adding to it, the scooter has an Italian flavour in its design, which makes it striking to look at too.
At the front, the SYM Cruisym 250i welcomes you with its massive front apron, which looks snazzy with the sharp panels that accommodate dual wing-like headlamps. These headlamps come integrated with projector bulbs and get a faux carbon fibre like edgy-looking chin, which flows back and merges with the side panels of the apron. Above the headlamp, there is a V-shaped gloss-black panel, which flows up towards the adjustable transparent windscreen. The lower edges of the windscreen have rearview mirrors mounted on them.
The SYM Cruisym 250i looks equally snazzy when viewed from the sides, especially towards the front, where it gets a mix-up of gloss black, faux carbon fibre, silver-finished and body-coloured panels fixed together in a layered form. The silver-coloured panels flow towards the sides of the spine which flows in the middle of the floorboard of the scooter. This gives a split design for the floorboard, which get long and comfortable space to rest your feet on.
The SYM Cruisym 250i looks wide when moving towards the rear, with the massive stepped-themed seat with impressive cushioning and broadside body panels which flow towards the wide tail lamp cluster. The tail lamp cluster is comprised of a pentagonal LED tail lamp and two arrow-themed LED turn indicators on its upper corners. Above the tail lamp cluster, you get a large split pillion grab rail made of alloy, which makes the rear profile look premium. The scooter gets a fuel filler cap mounted on the top of the spine and a large under-seat storage compartment that is big enough to store two full-sized helmets.
The SYM Cruisym 250i has an impressive and wide-looking three-part instrument console. Shaped in the form of wings of a bird, this console packs in analogue gauges for speedometer and tachometer on the sides with silver surround and a small LCD panel in the middle which shows fuel gauge, engine temperature gauge, clock, odometer and trip meter.
CRUiSYM 250i Ride & Handling
The SYM Cruisym 250i is designed as a maxi-scooter to make it equally comfortable for short and long-distance trips, and it does a very fine job at that. The scooter is armed with a conventional suspension combination of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and double-sided hydraulic coil springs at the back. The SYM Cruisym 250i rides on a bigger 14-inch alloy wheel at the front with a 120/70-14 tyre and a 140/60-13 tyre wrapped over a 13-inch alloy wheel at the back. Braking duties are taken care of by single disc brakes at both ends.
Sym CRUiSYM 250i Engine & Fuel Consumption
The SYM Cruisym 250i sources its power from a four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 249.4cc engine, which produces a maximum power output of 21.5 PS and a peak torque output of 23.5 Nm. For a 250cc scooter, the performance onboard is very impressive and gives a zesty appeal to the performance of the SYM Cruisym 250i.
CRUiSYM 250i Braking & Safety
Here, the SYM Cruisym 250i feels a bit under-equipped, as it only gets a dual-channel ABS and a lockable ignition keyhole. For a premium scooter like this, the safety equipment list should have been longer.
Sym CRUiSYM 250i Verdict
The SYM Cruisym 250i is a stylish and well-built scooter, which is designed with snazzy looking body panels and large dimensions to make it instantly lovable the moment you see it. The zesty performance and comfortable ride quality are other pluses that make it even more desirable.
