Mercedes Benz EQE SUV

Step into the cabin of the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV and you are greeted by a tech-laden cabin, which is high on quality and exclusive feel, no matter which trim level you opt for.

The Art Line version has an ARTICO man-made leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, silver chrome inserts on the steering wheel and gearshift paddles, ARTICO man-made black and space grey leather upholstery for the seats, dashboard and beltlines and door sill panels with Mercedes-Benz lettering. Meanwhile, the AMG Line has Nappa leather in place of ARTICO man-made leather for the AMG sports steering wheel, AMG brushed stainless steel sport pedals, and AMG floor mats while offering other bits of the Art Line mentioned above.

The cabin feels ultra-luxurious and tech-laden with a 12.3-inch rectangular full-TFT instrument console and the 12.8-inch portrait-styled slanted MBUX touchscreen infotainment system in the centre console. The turbine-style AC vents with a satin silver surround, an air quality package, 64-coloured ambient lighting, EQ navigation services, fingerprint scanner, pre-entry multi-zone automatic climate control, Mercedes-Benz sound system, and wireless smartphone integration are a few other features of this SUV.

Based on the EQE sedan, the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV takes inspiration from the larger EQS and smaller EQC luxury SUVs. While it doesn’t have the heightened stance of a traditional SUV, the EQE SUV still looks attractive with the slightly toned-down stance of a crossover. 

The front profile of the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV looks futuristic with the large black panel radiator grille that has a gloss black finish with a closed design and tri-star-themed design inserts within it. The EQE SUV has digital all-LED headlamps, that are connected by an LED light bar and constantly adapt the road illumination depending on the light conditions. 

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV has a slanted bonnet and lower ground clearance that gives it a crossover-ish stance, which gets better with attractive alloy wheels – 19-inch in the Art Line and 22-inch in the AMG Line. The flush-type door handles, smooth contours over the fenders, sloping bonnet, and door-mounted rearview mirrors make the EQE SUV look aerodynamic. The rear profile has a clean look to it with LED combination tail lamps with a 3D Helix design and a connected LED light bar. 

While a double wishbone at the front and a multi-link at the rear are offered as standard in the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, there is also an option of equipping it with adjustable air suspension. The EQE SUV feels a bit more responsive to drive with the adjustable air suspension, though ride quality becomes a bit stiffer. There is also an option for rear axle steering system, which further reduces the turning radius and makes the handling of the SUV more responsive. The dynamic select programs (drive modes) on offer in the EQE SUV are Eco, Comfort, Sport, Individual and Off-Road.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is available in two iterations – 350 Plus and 500 4MATIC. The 350 Plus variants have a single motor setup, which produces 288 bhp of maximum power and 565 Nm of maximum torque output. Meanwhile, the 500 4MATIC version has a dual motor setup that gives it an all-wheel drive configuration and claims 408 bhp of maximum power and 858 Nm of maximum torque output. A single-speed transmission and a 90.56 kWh battery are standard in both versions, with the battery delivering a maximum range of up to 550 km. 

Besides coming with ten airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control, 360-degree parking camera, hill assist and tyre pressure monitoring system, the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV also has driver assistance systems like lane keep assist, emergency lane keeping, lane departure warning, park assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and more.

It might be wrong to call the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV an SUV, for it looks more like a pure crossover with its hunkered-down stance. However, as a luxury crossover, the EQE SUV ticks many boxes with its tech-laden interior, powertrains and ride functions.
