With the festive Hari Raya season approaching, the new HPC network is expected to ease range anxiety and make long drives more convenient.

“Shell has been at the forefront of expanding Malaysia’s EV infrastructure in Peninsular Malaysia, and we are committed to supporting the nation’s energy transition and electrification of the transportation sector. The East Coast has long been regarded as a challenging region for HPC EV charging, and Shell is stepping up to change that. With the launch of our latest Shell Recharge HPC network in Pahang and Terengganu, we are bridging a critical gap in ultra-fast charging solutions along the East Coast corridor," said Seow Lee Ming, General Manager, Mobility & Convenience, Shell Malaysia.

Shell’s EV charging footprint has steadily expanded, starting from its first Shell Recharge HPC station in Tangkak, Johor, to a major EV charging hub in Genting Highlands.

The company aims to continue this growth, ensuring that EV owners across Malaysia have access to efficient and fast-charging solutions.

This latest development also extends Shell’s partnership with Porsche, providing Porsche EV owners with exclusive perks, including additional reservation allowances and special charging rates.

Porsche Malaysia remains dedicated to expanding the High-Performance Charging (HPC) network to ensure seamless travel for our customers. We are pleased to be extending the East Coast to West Coast HPC network with Shell Malaysia, further strengthening the EV ecosystem in Malaysia,” said Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.

He further noted, “Since the launch of the Taycan, we’ve seen a positive response toward EV adoption, and with the introduction of the all-electric Macan, our EV portfolio continues to grow. Now, with our latest Taycan and Macan models, a 10% to 80% State of Charge (SoC) recharge can now be done in as little as 18 minutes and 21 minutes, respectively, using Shell Recharge’s high-powered DC chargers. This means destination drives across Malaysia will now be more convenient, with shorter charging stops, allowing Porsche EV owners to enjoy more time on the road.”

The new Porsche Taycan has been extensively upgraded, delivering more power, greater range, and faster charging. Acceleration times have improved, with the Taycan Turbo S now hitting 0-100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds, making it 0.4 seconds quicker than before.

A new push-to-pass function provides an extra 70 kW boost for short bursts of added performance.

Range has increased by up to 35%, reaching a maximum of 678 km (WLTP), reducing the need for frequent charging stops. Charging speeds have also improved, with up to 320 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 10-80% charge in just 18 minutes.

Porsche has also introduced enhanced aerodynamics, chassis upgrades, and a refreshed interior with the latest Porsche Driver Experience interface.

EV drivers traveling toward Kuala Lumpur will soon have access to the newly added Shell LPT 1 R&R Temerloh HPC station, bringing the total number of Shell’s 180kW chargers to 13.

Beyond just charging, Shell is also ensuring a comfortable experience for EV drivers by equipping key charging locations with rest areas, convenience stores, and food and beverage options, including Shell Café.

In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations, Shell is rolling out a limited-time rebate campaign for EV users charging at Shell Recharge HPC stations along the East Coast Expressway.

From March 24 to April 4, 2025, users charging through the ParkEasy app will be eligible for rebates—Platinum Members will receive a full 100% credit rebate, while Gold Members and pay-per-use users will get a 50% rebate.

Rebates will be credited within seven days after the campaign ends, subject to terms and conditions.
