Jaguar XF

The interiors are suave and high on functionality. The dash can be chosen from widely available options according to preference. The Jaguar Drive selector has Halo Illuminators that illuminates the drive switches and panels on the console. The seats are bulky and look supremely comfortable and spacious. The central console houses a 7-inch touchscreen display that provides the driver with all the navigational informations as well as outputs from the cameras along with serving as a source of entertainment. The use of chrome on the dash as well as the gear knob look classy and a rich feeling to the cabin. The interiors of the XF is very spacious. There is no lack of head and leg room on both front and rear rows. The storage space is also no less and the boot space stands at a generous 500-litres which is enough for our daily chores as well as long journeys.

All the variants of Jaguar XF house overall dimensions measuring 4961mm x 1877 mm x 1460 mm which makes for smooth looks and efficient aerodynamics. The wheelbase of the XF is 2909mm with short overhangs that makes up for brilliant handling.

Wheels:

One doesn't really expect much variable price economy when it comes to luxury segment, but still Jaguar XF (especially the diesel variants) fare pretty well in this segment as well. The mileage of the 2.2-litre diesel engine is the best measuring 19.6 kmpl where as the most efficient petrol engine from among the lot is the 2-litre inline4 that offers an efficiency of 11.2kmpl which is slightly low. The 5-litre XFR V8 literally drinks fuel with an efficiency of just 8.6 kmpl which is however justifiable with the 5.0-litre capacity and 510hp power of the engine.

The engine of the XFR puts many entry level sports car to shame. The 5.0-litre Supercharged V8 packs a punch and knocks out a boastful 510hp and a max torque of 625Nm, putting its competition to rest, successfully. The 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol engine of XFS also has an impressive 340hp worth of power, whereas the diesel version of the same size gets a power of 275hp which is decent for a diesel engine along with a great torque of 600Nm. The 2.2-litre diesel engine of the XF has a 200hp engine whereas the XF 2.0-litre petrol churns 240hp with a torque of 340Nm. The transmission on the XF is an 8-speed automatic with Jaguar Sequential Shift that makes the power transmission smooth and efficient.

Power:

The XFR has one of the most powerful engine in this price range, a 5.0-litre super charged V8, that churns a massive 510 hp maximum power along with a wonderful torque of 625Nm. The 3.0-litre V6 Diesel in the XFS offers an appreciable 275hp of power along with 600Nm of torque.

Acceleration and pick up:

The XFR 5.0-litre does 0-100kmph in just 4.9 seconds which is an achievement for a 4 door sedan that has such an heavy weight. Its top speed is an electronically limited 250Kmph which is much less than what its capable of. The 2.2-litre diesel is the slowest of the lot as it does 0-100 in 8.5 seconds with a top speed of 225 kmph which is not too bad either. The 2.0-litre petrol touches the 100kmph mark in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 240kmph. The petrol and diesel V6, both have an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph, with acceleration in 5.9 sec and 6.4 sec to 100 kmph respectively.

As such, Jaguar XF comes packing with ventilated disc brakes both on the front and rear wheels which is necessary for all the performance oriented cars assisted with ABS and EBD to aid in emergency conditions. The suspension system on the XF is of Double Wishbone type on front where as of Multi Link type on the rear wheels. These suspensions do a fine job at maintaining a comfortable ride in the car and also ensure proper handling on turns and corners.

Safety and Security:

Jaguar XF comes packing with Airbags for all the passengers including a dual stage airbag for the driver and front passenger. It also has a blind spot monitoring system that never leaves any unseen spot on the road for the driver. The pedestrian contact sensor makes the car safe for the occupants as well as the people outside the vehicle. Apart from these exquisite features it also has the Dynamic Stability Control, Traction control, Cornering brake control and engine drag torque control to make for a safe and sound ride. For security purpose it has an immobilizer and alarm system.
