Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift coming soon to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz E-class is one of the most popular luxury cars that received a major facelift last year in the global market. The revamped sedan is now ready to enter the Malay market as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently teased the new E-Class on its official Facebook account with a “coming soon” tag. 

In terms of exterior design, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets an overhauled front fascia with a restyled grille and headlights. The former is now slimmer featuring a single louver and diamond pins while the latter ones are now sharper. We can also spot the new L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights and aggressively designed front and rear bumpers. New tail lights, trapezoidal exhausts, chrome trim, and a revived boot lid are also part of the new kit.

Inside, the luxurious sedan boasts a more upmarket cabin decked up with dynamically designed hi-quality trimmings made from silver ashwood, brushed aluminum, and burr walnut fondant. The important inclusions are:

• New Cockpit with intelligent MBUX infotainment system (it will have two 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen displays)
• Burmester sound system with refined sound levels
• New seats design offering outstanding seating comfort

As for safety, the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is likely to feature 7 airbags, ABS, blind spot assist, ESP, adaptive braking system with auto hold, hill start assist, attention assist, cruise control, Parktronic and Speedtronic, active parking assist, reverse camera, and a Pre-Safe system. 

While the automaker has not yet revealed the E-Class mechanical specs, we expect to see a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine under the bonnet. The said motor churns out a maximum power output of 272 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. It is also likely to be mated with a 48-volt onboard electrical system with an integrated starter-generator for a bump of 20 PS in power and 180 Nm in torque. The transmission duties are expected to be taken care of by a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox
