Meet the limited-run Subaru WRX Club, a rally-bred sedan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Subaru has already come up with special editions of the STI and WRX models. And now the automaker has released the WRX Club Spec, a limited-edition rally-bred sedan that will serve only the Australian market at the moment.

The Subaru WRX Club is said to be heavily influenced by the Viz Concept shown at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The sedan displays sporty bits all-over, which only enhances the car’s appeal. Here are a few exterior highlights -

• 18-inch STI alloy wheels
• High-performance Brembo brake calipers (limited to MT variants)
• Matte black Club Spec badging at the rear end

On the inside, the WRX Club Spec is fitted with Recaro sport bucket seats at the front for the driver and front passenger. The more expensive Subaru WRX STI models benefit from the Ultrasuede steering wheel. Delivering fantastic sound experience is a set of eight Harman-Kardon speakers, amplifiers, and subwoofers. The cabin also features a numbered Club Spec badging specifying the car’s unit.

As mentioned earlier, the Subaru WRX Club is a limited-edition model, restricted to just 150 units. Under the hood rests a 2.4-litre flat-four turbo engine that is rumoured to offer a high-output of 400 hp along with a peak torque of 490 Nm. The mill would be offered in both manual and CVT transmission options.

Once launched, the WRX Club will be available in three colour options - Crystal White Pearl, WR Blue Pearl, and Crystal Black Silica. Subaru WRX Club is expected to arrive in 2021 and will cost more than the standard WRX.
