Meet the all-new 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class SUV
KUALA LUMPUR: Shortly after unveiling the updated iterations of the GLE, GLA, and GLB, Mercedes-Benz pulled the wraps of the revamped GLS-Class. New for the 2024 model year is subtle exterior revisions, updated tech, and a reworked off-road package. Let’s dive deeper into the details.

First thing first, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class benefits from a large grille housing horizontal louvres with a Silver Shadow finish. The front bumper looks prominent with integrated air inlet grilles surrounded in high-gloss black. The updated SUV rides on new 20-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheels finished in Himalayas grey. Catching the attention on the rear are the new tail lights comprising three horizontal blocks.
Mercedes‑Benz has also adjusted the Off-Road Engineering package for the GLS drivers by adding an underride guard and increasing ground clearance by 30 mm.
Inside, the updated SUV gets the new MBUX system, new interior leather upholstery options - Catalana Beige and Bahia Brown, new steering wheel generation with touch controls on the spokes, updated voice assistant, optional MBUX Multi-seat entertainment, two rear USB ports with 100 W output, ENERGISING AIR CONTROL system with two-stage filter concept.
Different versions of the new Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class offered in Europe include -
- GLS 450 4Matic powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six making 381 hp and 500 Nm and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system adding 20 hp and 200 Nm
- GLS 580 4Matic powered by 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 517 hp and 730 Nm of torque paired with a 22 hp/250 Nm 48-volt mild-hybrid system
- GLS 350d 4Matic equipped with a 3.0-litre diesel mill generating 269 hp and 650 Nm and a 20 hp/200 Nm electric motor
- GLS 450d 4Matic fitted wth a 3.0-litre diesel mill kicking out 367 hp and 750 Nm hooked with a 20 hp/200 Nm electric motor
- AMG GLS 63 4Matic+ powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 mill rated at 612 hp and 850 Nm and an additional 22 hp/250 Nm 48-volt mild-hybrid system
- Maybach GLS equipped with a 3.9-litre engine producing 557 hp and 730 Nm and 16 hp/250 Nm ISG
All models are hooked with a nine-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
