Mercedes Benz GLS-Class Interior & Features

The cabin of the new Mercedes Benz GLS Class looks nowhere close to that of the previous generation model. In the process of transformation, it gets a much swankier cabin which looks inspired by other new-generation offerings from Mercedes Benz.

The cabin welcomes you with the large rectangular panel behind the three-spoke steering wheel, which is flanked by two trapezoidal AC vents on either sides. This panel houses dual 10.25-inch TFT screens – one for the instrument console and the other for the touchscreen infotainment system. The middle layer of the dashboard is finely finished in premium wood inlays and accommodates prominently placed quad AC vents in between. Below these vents are placed toggle-like switches for climate control in the lower part of the center console.

The Mercedes Benz GLS Class is bestowed with world-class features, such as 64-colour ambient lighting, premium 13-speaker Burmester sound system, electrically adjustable front and rear seats with memory, heating, and ventilation functions, Nappa leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, and much more.

GLS-Class Exterior

The new Mercedes Benz GLS Class looks like a fine evolution of the previous generation GLS Class. The new design makes it look sleeker and more aerodynamic than ever before, but it continues to have a big and bold stance which a flagship SUV should have in the very first place.

At the front, the large grille and full LED headlamps of the Mercedes Benz GLS Class now look more rounded than ever before. The grille here has two horizontal chrome-jeweled slats in it with a large Mercedes Benz logo in between. The headlamps too are all new units with sleek inverted L-shaped daytime running LEDs on their upper edges. The front bumper inserts and lower air dam too get dark chrome garnishes.

The side profile of the Mercedes Benz GLS Class gets minimal design lines, but the smooth curves do make up for it, which is the major reason why the new iteration looks so sleeker than before. The AMG-line alloy wheels and dark chrome touches on door handles and window surrounds do uplift its visual appeal in a premium manner.

At the back, the Mercedes Benz GLS Class has a much-rounded windscreen, D-pillar, and two-part LED tail lamps than ever before. There are additional chrome touches in the form of a thin strip between the tail lamps on the boot lid and around the exhaust tips and skid plate on the rear bumper.

Mercedes Benz GLS-Class Ride & Handling

The overall ride comfort of the Mercedes Benz GLS Class is enhanced by the presence of a range of technologies like an air-balance package, airmatic package, and magic vision control. All these systems use multiple drive modes and suspension settings to makes sure that the Mercedes Benz GLS Class remains sure-footed irrespective of the type of terrain.

GLS-Class Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Malaysian-spec Mercedes Benz GLS Class is available with only one engine-transmission combination of a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. This engine produces a maximum power output of 305 bhp and a maximum torque output of 500 Nm. The performance of the engine is further assisted by the EQ Boost technology.

Mercedes Benz GLS-Class Braking & Safety

The Mercedes Benz GLS Class is armed with top-notch safety features, the standard list of which includes acceleration skid control, active blind spot assist, active brake assist, active lane-keep and lane change assist, adaptive high beam assist plus, nine airbags, attention assist, adaptive cruise control, distronic plus with active distance assist and steer assist, evasive steering assist, ABS with ESP and EBD, active parking assist with a 360-degree camera and rear cross-traffic alert.

GLS-Class Verdict

The Mercedes Benz GLS Class is rightfully termed as the high-riding equivalent of the S-Class sedan, as it gets a host of comforts and features which are currently ranked as best in the SUV business.
