Maserati plans to electrify the entire lineup by 2025, as per the report
KUALA LUMPUR: More and more carmakers are embracing the more sustainable energy model for their vehicles these days. A few days back, the British automaker Bentley announced a bold plan of electrifying its entire lineup this decade, and now the Italian sports car brand Maserati revealed the hopes to electrify the entire range by 2025.
While there has been no official announcement regarding this, the company’s COO David Grasso shared this ambitious strategy during an online fashion event hosted by an Italian newspaper ‘Milano Finanza’ last week, reported by Reuters.
“The new GranTurismo and Gran Cabrio models will be electrified too, all our line-up will be electrified in the next five years,” said Grasso.

The high-performance luxury arm of FCA entered the world of electrification back in July when it revealed its first electrified model, the Ghibli Hybrid. It is powered by an innovative mild-hybrid drivetrain that pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot engine with a 48-volt alternator and an additional electric supercharger. The setup produces a combined output of 330 hp and 450 Nm, enough to propel the family sedan from 0-100 kmph in just 5.7 seconds.
Maserati also has teased the Grecale SUV back in September, which is known to be the brand’s first fully-electric model. However, it will be first offered as a combustion-engined SUV alongside a hybrid model in 2021 and we could see a pure electric version in 2022 if reports are accurate.
The automaker also announced that the recently unveiled MC20 supercar and GranTurismo would be available with electric powertrains; these models are also expected to come by 2022. Currently, the MC20 is powered solely by a mid-mounted 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 unit churning out a maximum power of 463 kW and a peak torque of 730 Nm. The all-electric variant of the supercar is expected to be quicker with a driving range of 325 kilometres.
Furthermore, both the Levante SUV and the Quattroporte sports saloon will also receive electric powertrains either hybrid or zero-emission in 2023 or 2024.
