Hyundai Ioniq 6 Lite and Plus variants launched in Malaysia, price begins at RM 219k
KUALA LUMPUR: In July 2023, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) introduced the Ioniq 6 EV in Malaysia in two variants - Max RWD and Max AWD. Now almost after two months, the company has expanded the lineup of the all-electric sedan with the addition of two new trims - Lite RWD and Plus RWD.

Both Lite and Plus variants of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 come equipped with a 53 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery offering a WLTP-claimed range of 429 km.Upon introducing the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 variants, Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Retail and Distribution of Sime Darby Motors Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Macau said “Public response to the Hyundai IONIQ 6 has been very encouraging, with many impressed by the Electrified Streamliner’s advanced technology, striking silhouette, aerodynamic efficiency and performance. Now, we’re making the triple-2023 World Car Awards winner available to a broader spectrum of Malaysian buyers.”
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Lite RWD is priced at RM 219,888 while the Plus RWD retails for RM 249,888. The new variants are more affordable than the existing Max RWD and Max AWD trims, priced at RM 289,888 and RM 319,888, respectively.
The mentioned prices are on-the-road before insurance and include an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty and a standard 2-year/50,000 km vehicle warranty. By paying an additional cost of RM 10,000, the latter can be upgraded to 5-year/100,000 km coverage, which also comes with a 3-year/50,000 km complimentary service.
Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of HSDM said, “In introducing the new Lite and Plus variants of the IONIQ 6, HSDM is bringing the current pinnacle of Hyundai’s electric vehicle line-up, and a truly globally-acclaimed EV, within reach of more Malaysian buyers, thereby increasing the choices that suit their lifestyles.”
Speaking about the drivetrain, the new Lite and Plus models of the EV come equipped with a single RWD motor which pumps out a maximum power of 151 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. The motor is fed by a 53 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery offering a WLTP-claimed range of 429 km.
The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes with the help of the 350 kW DC fast charger. However, if you are using a less powerful charger, such as a 50 kW DC charger, the same task will take 58 minutes. The 11 kW AC charger will juice up the 100% battery in 5.5 hours.
In terms of features, the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 variants come loaded with two connected 12.3-inch displays, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, a power tailgate, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, seven airbags, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), 64-colour ambient lighting, and much more.
The colour palette remains the same as the Max variants, which include Abyss Black Pearl, Nocturne Grey Matte, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Dive Blue Solid, and Gravity Gold Matte,
Bookings for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 Lite and Plus variants are now underway in Malaysia with deliveries set to commence in the fourth quarter of the year.
