BMW to say goodbye to almighty V12 engine with a special model

KUALA LUMPUR: As the automotive industry carries on with the smaller engines on its way to pure-electric vehicles, BMW is also ready to bid farewell to its long-running V12 mill. The German automaker introduced the first roadgoing V12-powered model in 1987, and now after running it successfully for 35 years, BMW will end its production this year with a special limited-edition BMW M760i xDrive Final V12.

The automaker will create only 12 examples of this special model, which will be exclusively for the US market. Each unit will be specifically tailored to the customer's request and will come with unique elements. BMW will offer an invitation to buy the final V12 model to the customers having a long history of V12 7 Series ownership.

The elements that will differentiate the M760i xDrive Final V12 with other 7 series versions are 

• A unique V12 rear badge
• Exclusive 20-inch double-spoke light-alloy rims finished in either Jet Black or Window Grey 
• M Sport brakes with a choice of blue or black calipers
• THE FINAL V12 badge on door sills and engine
• A commemorative plaque placed on the console denoting its “1 OF 12” rarity
• BMW Individual Piano Black Finish interior trimming

In addition, BMW will also offer over 80 exterior hues and multiple tones of opulent Full Merino leather interior trim for creating a different personal statement.

Under the hood of the ultimate luxury sports sedan, the 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 mill will generate a maximum power output of 448 kW (601 hp) between 5,500-6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 850 Nm. The engine will be mated to an eight-speed Sport Automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. On the performance side, the Final V12 model will clock the 0-100 kmph mark in 3.6 seconds.

The model will be equipped with hi-tech systems like BMW’s Driving Assistance Professional Package, Luxury Rear Seating Package, Icon Adaptive LED Headlights with Laserlight, Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof, and Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound Audio System.  

The production of the BMW M760i xDrive Final V12 will begin in June 2022, with deliveries expected in July. Its whopping starting price reads $200,000 (excluding destination charges), which is approximately equal to RM 838,409.
