All-new 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class launched in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) after teasing the new E-Class recently has finally launched it today. The car signifies a new era of luxury and intelligence that is accompanied by a new attitude, latest innovation and exclusivity.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President & CEO, Sagree Sardien said, “The new locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz E-Class continues to set the standards in automotive luxury. It has gone through several stages of redefinition over the years to maintain the variety of top-class innovations, memorable highlights and a luxurious, stylish interior with high-value perception. The new E-Class creates history by going the extra mile in the evolution of safety, comfort and performance while upholding the standards of design and luxury. Customers will get to experience first-hand, the latest-in-class luxury and performance as well as superior technology.”
Agreeing with Sardien, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia VP of Marketing and Sales, Michael Jopp added, “The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been the heart of the Mercedes-Benz brand for many generations. This emotionally appealing and at the same time intelligent vehicle is also extremely successful in Malaysia. To date, more than 10,000 customers in Malaysia have bought the current generation E-Class limousines. Adding to this success, today the E-Class limousines have undergone a comprehensive update featuring top of the line additions such as the next-generation MBUX infotainment system and the class-leading safety and assistance systems. Customers can rest assured knowing that when it comes to comfort, luxury and safety, the E-Class is truly at the top of its class.”
Not to forget, the E-Class is the best selling model in the company’s history with over 14 million units delivered worldwide since 1946.
In Malaysia, the new E-Class is offered in two variants - the E 200 Avantgarde and E300 AMG Line. Note that both the models will be locally assembled (CKD) in Pekan, Pahang and therefore will benefit from 100% sales tax exemption. Speaking of which, let’s move on to the price.

New E-Class design
2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class brings along some significant design changes that most depend on the variant picked. For instance, the E 200 Avantgarde model gets a hexagonal grille with two chrome slats running across a black lattice. It also comes with a tamer lower apron with a chrome chin. The exterior feature kit includes - new LED high-performance headlights & taillights, bonnet with pronounced power domes, and 18-inch 5-twin spoke alloys.
The E 300 AMG Line variant, on the other hand, features a trapezoidal-shaped grille with a single chrome slat running on top of the stunning chrome pin backdrop. It also showcases a more aggressive front bumper with A wing-like profile and large faux intakes. Above all, it gets MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with ULTRA RANGE high beam and 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke alloy wheels.
At the rear, both the models come with a new bumper, new boot lid, and split tail lamps with a revised inner design.
Exterior paint options include high-tech silver and grey metallic.
New E-Class cabin comfort & convenience
The cabin packs in everything that is exclusive to Mercedes-Benz luxury - fine materials and class-leading innovation. The list is long and here are a few highlights -
- New multi-function steering wheel wrapped in genuine leather; with a sensor-activated pad on the rim that on detecting driver’s hand are not on the steering starts a warning cascade
- Media display and instrument cluster is controlled via swiping along with the Touch Control buttons
- Front seats are sporty, offer strong lateral support; material combinations range from ARTICO man-made leather in E 200 Avantgarde to genuine leather in E 300 AMG Line
- Come equipped with the latest-gen MBUX multimedia system, includes two 12.3-inch displays
- The E 200 gets Thermatic dual-zone climate control, powered front seat with memory function, ambient lighting, and powered sunshades for rear side windows
- The E 300 gets a panoramic sliding sunroof, AMG floor mats, Thermotronic three-zone climate control, and Burmester sounds system
New E-Class engine specs
The E-Class retains its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that pumps out different figures in the two variants. In the E 200, the engine makes a maximum power of 197 PS from 5,500 to 6,100 rpm along with a peak torque of 320 Nm from 1,650 to 4,000 rpm. As for the E 300 AMG Line, the mill serves up 258 PS from 5,800 to 6,100 rpm and 370 Nm from 1,800 to 4,000 rpm.
Power in both variants is sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.

The car comes equipped with the latest-gen Mercedes-Benz driving assistance systems; while the Active Brake Assist is offered as standard, the E 300 AMG Line gets Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC,& 360-degree camera, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Keep Assist, PRE-SAFE PLUS, and Active Blind Spot Assist
