2023 Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ hatchback arrives in Malaysia

 KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new 2023 Mercedes-AMG A 45 S has also made its way to the local market alongside the upgraded versions of the non-AMG A-Class variants. However, unlike the latter, the AMG trim is fully imported from Germany, which retails for RM 509,888. 

A special edition of the hot hatchback, the Street Style Edition is also being offered for a limited run that can be grabbed by paying an additional amount of RM 30,000.

The new Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ exterior gains a number of cosmetic tweaks, which include - 

• New LED headlights
• New single brow-type DRLs
• Slightly revised front grille with the signature Panamericana mesh
• New AMG emblem
• Updated bumpers
• New graphics on the tail lights

The car can also be kitted with the AMG Night Package adding high-gloss black accents here and there and an AMG Aerodynamics package enhancing handling at high speeds. The upgraded model runs on 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke light alloy wheels.

Under the bonnet of the new Mercedes-AMG A 45 S lies the same 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine as earlier, which churns out a maximum power of 421 hp and a peak torque of 500 Nm. The power is transferred to all four wheels through an 8-speed DCT gearbox and 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system. 

In terms of performance, the hatchback runs from zero to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds and hits a top speed of 270 kmph.

Inside the cabin, the upgraded model gets a new AMG Performance steering wheel kitted with AMG-specific buttons, new sage grey colour for the AMG performance seats, and the latest MBUX system with AMG-themed displays and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. 

Also part of the kit is the Burmester sound system, dual 10.25-inch displays,  64-colour ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, Artico man-made leather, and Microcut microfiber upholstery.

Setting the limited Street Style Edition apart is an exclusive Manufaktur Mountain Grey Magno exterior paint, fluorescent orange accents inside out, Edition decals, distinctive 19-inch cross-spoke forged wheels, AMG aluminium interior trim, and pure microfiber upholstery.
