As per the engine of this bike, it is driven by a 1301cc two-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine. The engine can generate about 158.2 hp of power with a maximum torque of 140 Nm. The power of the engine is matched with a 6-speed manual transmission. Together, the engine and transmission can accelerate this vehicle to high speeds in a matter of seconds. The new 2021 model of this bike is expected to have top speeds of over 280 kmph, with the bike reaching 0-100 kmph in less than 3 seconds. 

Alongside the transmission, the engine is fed through a fuel injection system, and the gear changes are controlled by a wet-multi-plate clutch system for the necessary rapid gear changes. This bike has a 23-litre fuel tank that is good for long rides without needing frequent refueling. The average fuel consumption of this bike is about 14-16 kmpl.

The 1290 Super Adventure R has excellent features when it comes to riding and handling. The handling is supported by a semi-active suspension system that allows you to choose the dampening rate based on the selected ride mode. WP manufactures the suspension system with a USD suspension for the front wheel and a mono-shock unit for the rear wheel.

This model is a two-seater bike with dual stepped seats for the rider and pillion. The seats are comfortable for the long journey, but they are not the best feature of this bike. The handlebar is standard and makes you feel very comfortable when you settle into the bike while riding.

Braking and safety are given utmost importance in this bike with integrated ABS. Both the front and rear wheel have disc brakes installed for decelerating this speed demon. The front wheel has a dual disc brake, while the rear wheel features a single disc brake. In terms of braking, this bike gets good points as the ABS and disc brakes do an excellent job at braking in case of an emergency.

As per other safety features, the 1290 Super Adventure R features a plethora of safety features such as a pass switch for riding in traffic, side reflectors for visibility in the dark. It also has an engine check indicator for checking the bike for any serious mechanical faults. Additionally, it is equipped with different riding modes, including rain, sport, street, and offroad.

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure R is a value-for-money bike with excellent performance and stunning looks. Overall this bike has very few flaws, and given its various features and the price point; it is worth purchasing. This bike is not best suited for beginners. An experienced rider can really put this bike through its courses and have a lot of fun in the process.
