Daiichi Caro 70 AX

The Daiichi Caro 70 AX has a love-it-or-hate-it kind of design, as its mini-bike styling is not something that creates a generalized opinion. While some might appreciate the funkiness of its design, some do feel that this is an odd-looking motorcycle.

The Daiichi Caro 70 AX gets a simple and basic-looking round headlamp at the front, which is an all halogen unit and gets a chrome surround. This headlamp is encased within a semi-spherical housing, with either side of the headlamp getting chrome-finished clamps and rounded amber-coloured turn indicators mounted on them. The Daiichi Caro 70 AX gets a large white-coloured fender slightly higher over the front wheel.

The side profile of the Daiichi Caro 70 AX is an angle from which it starts getting a unique personality of its own. The motorcycle has a triangular fuel tank with curved edges, which feels quite large for the size of the motorcycle. In a very unique manner, the Daiichi Caro 70 AX gets a single-piece seat, which is even bigger than the fuel tank of the motorcycle. While the silver-themed engine and wheels do look basic, what grabs your attention is the high-mounted single-sided exhaust pipe and big-sized bobber-like tyres at either end.

Towards the rear, the Daiichi Caro 70 AX gets a tubular grab rail, which is positioned behind the seat of the motorcycle and has a utilitarian appeal by being a decent luggage carrier. Just below this tubular grab rail, the Daiichi Caro 70 AX gets a simple-looking tail lamp cluster, with a rounded tail lamp and rounded amber-coloured turn indicators flanking it. Just below the tail lamp cluster, one does get a high-mounted white-coloured fender over the rear wheel.

Like the rest of its design, the Daiichi Caro 70 AX gets a bare basic all-analogue instrument console. There is a rounded unit just above the headlamp cowl, which packs in an analogue speedometer and an analogue odometer. While the Daiichi Caro 70 AX has a distinctive design, the below-average fit and finish levels will disappoint many.

Powering the pint-sized Daiichi Caro 70 AX is an equally small four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 72cc engine, which happens to be one of the small engines available for a two-wheeler in Malaysia. Coupled with a basic 4-speed gearbox, the engine makes a maximum power output of 5.3 bhp. For a motorcycle of this size and engine, the power output is pretty decent. The motorcycle is capable of hitting a decent top speed of 75 kmph.

The entry-level positioning of the Daiichi Caro 70 AX with evident cost-cutting measures have resulted in a lack of modern-day riding aids. The Daiichi Caro 70 AX even lacks the presence of a proper ABS.

Quality-wise, the Daiichi Caro 70 AX leaves a lot to be desired. This mini-motorcycle has a very basic and functional setup when it comes to mechanicals. The decently powerful engine and agile riding dynamics make it worth the money it asks.
