Modenas Pulsar NS160

The styling elements of the Pulsar NS160 are reminiscent of the Pulsar 150. It poses an aggressive, sporty style and is bound to grab the attention of the onlookers. At the front, you get a halogen headlamp with Auto Headlamp On (AHO) and a 90/90, 17 inches alloy wheel shod with a 49 P tubeless tyre. Inside the cockpit, the instrument cluster uses an analogue tachometer with a separate monochrome LCD readout for speed and other information. A body-coloured engine protector under-cowl cover is placed underneath the engine to protect it from dirt and damage. Adding to the sporty stance is the stepped-up, single-piece seat with a sharp pillion grab rail. At the rear, the Pulsar NS160 poses LED taillight and turn indicators along with a 120/80, 17 inches alloy wheel shod with a 61 P tubeless tyre. The standard variant is available in two paint schemes - Blue and White.

The kerb weight of the Pulsar NS160 is 151 kg. It is 2,017 mm long, 803.5 mm wide and 1,060 mm high, with a ground clearance of 179 mm. The dimensions help in enhancing the ride and handling capabilities. Moreover, its chiselled fuel tank makes it easier to grip the tank, while its perimeter frame further improves handling. The suspension setup comprises telescopic front forks with an anti-friction bush and a Nitrox mono shock absorber with a Canister at the rear.

Fitted with an air-cooled, SOHC, twin-spark, single-cylinder mill displacing 160cc, the Pulsar NS160 generates max power of 15.2 hp at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Fed by Bosch EFI, the Pulsar N160 gets the power to the ground through a five-speed gearbox and chain final drive. It has a 12-litre fuel tank, enough for riding in the city as well as for long trips. The engine can be turned on using the conventional kick and an electric switch.

A combination of hydraulically operated discs, 260 mm at the front and 230 mm at the rear, brings the Pulsar NS160 to a halt. However, the omission of ABS is the biggest drawback in terms of safety and braking. 

The Modenas Pulsar NS160 is one of the sportiest naked bikes in its segment and delivers an excellent performance. It also offers good handling and riding comfort, adding more reasons to buy it. A significant drawback is the absence of ABS, which is offered as standard in almost all other bikes in this category. Apart from that, there are no major reasons to not get on to this naked bike. It appeals to a good chunk of biking enthusiasts, especially the youth.
