Mercedes Benz GLB-Class

The overall cabin of the Mercedes Benz GLB Class, especially the dashboard, takes a lot of inspiration from the other entry-level Mercedes Benz offerings like GLA and A-Class sedan. It nowhere feels like an entry-level car, as it gets all the comforts and luxuries for the price.

One is greeted with a number of youthful design elements, like an array of circular turbine-themed AC vents. Behind the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel is placed the very familiar wide double-screen layout housed in a long rectangular panel. On the left is the full TFT instrument console with multiple layouts and a touchscreen infotainment system just above the AC vents in the center console.

The center console here also gets toggle-like switches for dual-zone automatic climate control, just below the central AC vents. Apart from these traits, the Mercedes Benz GLB Class also gets a host of rich features like ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, powered front seats, and more.

In true Mercedes Benz fashion, the GLB Class has got a clean and sophisticated design that looks modern and rich to the fullest. However, the overall proportions and stance of the GLB Class look more like that of an MPV, rather than of an SUV. This is despite the fact that the Mercedes Benz GLB Class has been spruced up with rugged-looking bits.

The overall stance of the Mercedes Benz GLB Class has been tried to be imitated with the much bigger GLS Class. The front profile of the GLB Class has block-type big squared headlamps with rounded edges and a full LED lighting setup. These headlamps consist of dual sleek curves of daytime running LEDs within them.

The large grille with tapered lower edges makes the GLB Class looks bold, with the two horizontal chrome garnished slats in it making the overall appearance more premium. Adding more bling to the front profile is the chrome-plated skid plate on the front bumper.

Mercedes Benz has tried to make the GLB Class appear like an SUV with side body moldings and roof rails. Like in GLS Class, all the side window panels of the Mercedes Benz GLB Class get complete chrome surrounds, which lift up its appeal. The kink rising at the C-pillar in the window waistline further catches the attention even more.

The rear profile of the Mercedes Benz GLB Class too seeks a lot of influence from the bigger GLS Class with an almost vertical design for the boot lid, windscreen, and sleek two-part LED tail lamps with rounded edges. Here at the back also, the bumper gets a chrome-plated skid plate, with one exhaust tip on either side.

The Mercedes Benz GLB Class is more oriented towards comfort, given its positioning as a family-oriented product. The overall ride quality stays well-cushioned, however, the third row of seats is best suited only for small children. The Mercedes Benz GLB Class, in the GLB 250 variant, also gets the 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard.

The Mercedes Benz GLB Class is offered in two different engine options in both of its variants. The GLB 200 gets a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 163 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. Whereas, the GLB 250 has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 221 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque. Both the engines are paired to a common 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

Despite being one of the entry-level offerings from Mercedes Benz, the GLB Class gets a number of safety features such as nine airbags, active lane keep assist, active brake assist with a semi-autonomous braking system, blind post assist with exit warning assistant, crosswind assist, and traffic sign assist.

For a large family with small kids, the Mercedes Benz GLB Class serves as a perfect entry-level luxury offering. With all the luxuries, the GLB Class stays true to the tradition of Mercedes Benz of offering a well-built product with comfort as the highest priority.
