2022 Aprilia SR GT 200: Key Highlights

With Didi Group as its caretaker, the Italian motorcycle brand Aprilia is spreading its footprints in the Malaysian market. It has launched a total of three new models this month, including the new RSV4 1100 Factory, Tuareg 660, and the SR GT 200. The latter is Aprilia's first urban adventure scooter, which debuted in EICMA 2021. Here we bring the key highlights of this agile and sporty model for the prospective buyers - 

Variants & price

Aprilia SR GT 200 comes in two variants in Malaysia - base and Sport; the former is priced at RM 19,900, while for the latter, you need to shell out an amount of RM 20,900. The price excludes road tax, insurance and registration. 

Sporty design

With its sporty details and Italian style, the Aprilia SR GT steals the show wherever it goes. It features Aprilia sports bikes' racing character and inspirations from the off-road world. 

There is a full LED three-element light cluster on the front with double fairing emerging to the sides. It smoothly blends with the smoked windscreen and wide handlebar attached to the scooter with refined die-cast aluminium. The intuitive and ergonomic handlebar controls are derived from the motorcycle. Among the several other ADV elements are slightly forward-set footpegs.

The full LED rear light cluster, turn signals, and the licence plate positioned on the rear wheel make a good impression at the tail end.

Different colour options to choose from 

The automaker offers the SR GT variants in different shades - 

• SR GT 200 - Aprilia Black, Infinity Black, and Street Grey, all paired with black seats and wheels
• SR GT 200 Sport - Red Raceway, Street Gold, and Iridium Grey; with a two-tone black & grey seat and red wheels 

Fully digital LCD instrument system 

The adventure scooter is equipped with a fully digital LCD instrument system displaying a wide range of travel information. It can be paired with the Aprilia MIA connectivity system, which is available as an option. Once your smartphone is connected to the system via BT, you can check out the incoming calls and message notifications. The system can also make calls or play music with the vocal commands.

Big under-seat storage area

Under the seat, you get a 25-litre compartment that can accommodate a full-face helmet.

Euro 5-compliant engine

At the core of the Aprilia scooter lies a Euro 5-compliant 174-cc single-cylinder engine that dishes out a maximum power of 17.4 hp at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque of 16.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a continuously variable transmission. The engine belongs to the i-get family and is equipped with a Start & Stop system, which helps in getting improved fuel efficiency in stop-and-go traffic. The claimed fuel efficiency of the scooter is 38.5 kmpl.

All-terrain wheels 

Aprilia's urban adventure scooter can explore different terrains beyond urban limits. And for that, it comes equipped with alloy wheels - 14-inch front and 13-inch rear. These are mated to all-terrain tyres with a knobby tread. This allows you to cruise it on any surface, from asphalt to cobblestones.

175 mm ground clearance 

Another outstanding highlight of the 2022 Aprilia SR GT is its ground clearance, which measures 175 mm. With all-terrain wheels, this helps you easily surmount bumps on your way and descend from any altitude. 

Long travel suspension

Based on a double-cradle steel tube frame chassis, the scooter comes with a hydraulic telescopic fork suspension at the front, providing 120 mm of travel. The rear gets a double shock absorber with adjustable preload offering travel of 102 mm.

This new long-travel suspension was specifically developed for this model. It promises better control, comfort and safety, especially on uneven surfaces, without impacting the riding pleasure.

Efficient braking

While the scooter offers excellent agility and handling, it is also stable at more sustained speeds. The braking duties are handled by a 260 mm petal front disc and a petal-shaped 220 mm disc at the rear. The front end also has an anti-lock braking unit.
