Aprilia Tuono 660

Like how the Aprilia Tuonos have been designed in the past, the new Aprilia Tuono 660 stays true to the lineage, with this naked roadster having a fixed semi-fairing around the front fascia, that gives it its distinctive appeal. The motorcycle comes standard with three primary paint schemes with contrast red alloy wheels.

The front fascia of the Aprilia Tuono 660 is inspired by the flagship Tuono V4, with the naked roadster getting a triple LED arrangement setup for its headlamps. The wide and purposeful-looking front fascia of the Aprilia Tuono 660 also gets a large tinted visor above the headlamps in the middle and wraparound daytime running LEDs covered over the lower edges of the side headlamps. There are tiny air vents placed below the side LED headlamps of the Tuono 660, which are present there for air intake and facilitating aerodynamics at higher speeds.

The side profile of the Aprilia Tuono 660 also gets side fairing panels, which are not as large as those of the RS 660 but are large enough to partially cover the frontal part of the engine. These fairing panels extend downwards and merge with the engine cowl, which also partially covers the underbody exhaust pipe of the motorcycle. Here, the engine is finished in a gunmetal grey theme, while the frame and swingarm of the motorcycle are silver-themed.

The muscular-looking fuel tank and compact and aerodynamic tail section of the Aprilia Tuono 660 have been shared with the RS 660, with the latter having a usable pillion seat over it and an M-shaped LED tail lamp behind it. The seats and 17-inch alloy wheels too have been shared with the RS 660, and so has the full-TFT 5-inch instrument console sitting within a pentagonal housing that also gets a host of warning lights around the screen. The Aprilia Tuono 660 gets backlit switchgear and a relatively more comfortable single handlebar setup, which is positioned slightly higher than the clip-on handlebars of the RS 660.

Along with the engine, the Aprilia Tuono 660 also shares the rest of its mechanical hardware with the RS 660 supersport motorcycle. The Tuono 660 is based on an aluminium dual beam with a removable tail section, complemented with a suspension combination of 41mm upside-down telescopic forks from Kayaba with rebound and spring preload adjustability and 110mm travel at the front and an asymmetrical aluminium swingarm and a mono-shock with adjustable preload and rebound with 130mm travel at the rear. The Tuono 660 rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped with a 120/70 ZR17 tyre at the front and a 180/55 ZR17 tyre at the rear, while having dual 320mm discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear for braking.

The Aprilia Tuono 660 shares its four-stroke, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, 659cc engine with the RS 660. Shared in the same state of tune, this engine produces a maximum power output of 95 PS and a maximum torque output of 67 Nm, with the engine here paired with a 6-speed transmission. Like in the RS 660, the engine of the Aprilia Tuono 660 is a short-stroke mill with a peaky performance, which makes it a rev-happy engine.

Equipped with a comprehensive suite of riding aids, including a dual-channel ABS, bi-direction quick-shifter, five riding modes (Rain, Road, Track, Rider 1 and Rider 2), traction control, wheelie control, engine braking control and cruise control, the Aprilia Tuono 660 is one of the best-equipped naked roadsters in the middleweight category.

The Tuono V4-inspired design and the RS 660-derived engine and mechanical setup come together to make the Aprilia Tuono 660 one fantastic and highly recommendable middleweight naked roadster.
