2022 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Didi Group first launched the RSV 1100 Factory in Malaysia in 2019 and now for the model year 2022 Aprilia’s superbike is a subtle upgrade.

The all-new 2022 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory was recently introduced at the Ipoh Big Bike Pitstop and Velocity Motor Show. 

Compared to the previous-gen model the new version receives substantial mechanical and aerodynamic upgrades.

 

Let’s check out what’s new with 2022 RSV4 1100 Factory -

Bigger engine

Powering the RSV4 1100 Factory now is a slightly bigger mill, i.e., a 1,099 cc engine making a maximum power output of 217 hp at 13,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 125 Nm at 10,500 rpm. For comparison, the previous model had a 1,078 cc unit generating the same output.

The bigger engine allows the new RSV4 Factory to attain a top speed of 305 kmph. All this while still meeting the Euro 5 emission standards.

Improved design

The 2022 RSV4 1100 Factory now showcases a more aerodynamically inclined design language. The Italian manufacturer has borrowed certain clues from the smallest RS 600 for the purpose. For example, the new Aprilia motorcycle gets winglets that are built into the double-wall fairing that help enhance stability during high speed and hard braking. It also improves engine cooling.

Better handling & braking

Aprilia has equipped the 2022 RSV4 1100 Factory with the Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension system with semi-active and manual modes (for fork & shock absorbers) and three maps z9two for track use & one for street use).

In addition, the motorcycle gets a more rigid and lighter swingarm.

Helping the motorcycle stop are now better braking gears including Brembo Stylema callipers with dual 330 mm discs at the front and a Brembo calliper with a single 220 mm disc at the rear. A Bosch ABS with cornering functions is also part of the setup.

New electronics

The 2022 RSV4 1100 Factory features the new-gen Aprilia Performance Ride Control with Aprilia Engine Brake that can be adjusted to three levels and are independent of the selected engine map.

The bike now comes with six riding modes - three road and three rack. The former includes Street, Sport, & Use, and the latter includes Race, Track 1, and Track 2

New colour & pricing

The 2022 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory is offered in three striking tones - Lava Red and Aprilia Black with red highlights, and Ultra Dark with black & gold accents.

Aprilia Malaysia is offering all the 2022 model for RM 169,900, which is a RM 10,000 hike over the previous model. Note the price does not include registration, road tax, and insurance.
