Volkswagen Arteon R-Line is now available in Malaysia, price starts at RM 221,065

KUALA LUMPUR: The long-awaited Arteon has finally made its way to the Malaysian roads. Following its global debut in 2017, the order books of the executive sedan had opened in July 2019, but it got delayed and delayed. Well, now the model has eventually launched in one single variant - R-Line, locally assembled at the Volkswagen plant in Pekan, Pahang.

Along with this, Volkswagen launched the Tiguan Allspace lineup and Volkswagen Passat R-Line at the Volkswagen Tour currently happening at 1Utama Shopping Centre.

Dubbed as Volkswagen’s flagship model, the new Arteon comes with a blend of avant-garde design and dynamic handling. More specifically, the R-Line variant is inspired by the Volkswagen performance R range, and thus paired with the sporty R-Line trimmings. The sporty styling package provides it an extra edge to become a sportier model.

The said package comprises an aggressive front chrome grille with R-Line badge, LED headlamps and tail lamps with dynamic indicators, a rugged black rear spoiler, 19-inch Montevideo alloy wheels, and lower chrome trimmings.

All along with the form, the new VW Arteon R-Line carries function too. The sedan comes with a dynamic chassis control with driving mode selection that allows the driver to select from 15 available driving style preferences. For connectivity, the Arteon R-Line is equipped with a Discover Pro infotainment system, a personalised digital cockpit, and wireless App-Connect Apple Car Play. 

Other highlights comprise a premium Dynaudio audio system, 14-way ErgoComfort seats in Nappa carbon-style black leather with massage function, seven airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability control, and a 360-degree camera. The sedan also offers a best-in-class boot space of 563 litres that is accessible with an Easy Open boot function. 

Powering the VW Arteon is a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine generating 190 PS of power and 320 Nm of peak torque. Power is then transferred to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG wet dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters.
