Toyota Corolla Altis 2019: Features explained

Toyota Malaysia has got a rich product portfolio. It has a good number of MPVs and SUVs. However, when it comes to sedans, it has got only three - Toyota Vios, Toyota Corolla Altis, and Toyota Camry - with the Vios being the most affordable one and the Camry the most expensive. It is the 2019 Corolla Altis that falls in between and tries to offer the best of the other two cars.

There are two variants of the Corolla Altis available in Malaysia. These are 1.8E, 1.8G, and 2.0V. In this story, we are going to discuss some of the top features of the car.

Exterior features

LED headlamps

The headlamps of the 2019 Corolla Altis are superior not only in terms of look but also how they perform. They have got a sleek and large profile which never fails to grab your attention. Also, the front chrome grille strip flushes smoothly into the upper portion of the headlamps enhancing the car’s overall front appearance. Being LED the headlights consume far less energy than the conventional halogens and provide much better illumination in the dark.

Fog lamps

Auto air-conditioning

To keep the occupants in comfort at all times irrespective of the weather outside, the Corolla Altis comes with an automatic air-conditioning system. Its Vertical Alignment (VA) type LCD ensures that the temperature information is always visible by increasing screen brightness during the daytime.

Comfortable rear seats with fold and recline capabilities

The rear seats of the Altis offer a good amount of comfort and support making long journeys easier. They also have 60:40 split and fold function along with recline ability.

Optitron Instrument Console

The Optitron Instrument Console is one of the best features of the Corolla Altis. It looks great and also provides a lot of information. There is also a 4.2-inch color TFT MID in the center that show data like average fuel consumption, range and eco driver indicator.

Cruise control

Toyota has also provided cruise control in the Corolla Altis. You can set your desired speed at which you want to cruise from the controls located near the steering wheel. Then you will be able to cruise at that speed without using the accelerator pedal.

Auto electrochromic mirror

To reduce any glare that is potentially distracting for the driver, the Altis has an auto electrochromic mirror. It is a handy safety feature especially in dark or night driving.

7-inch touchscreen display

The 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display in the Altis offers you a host of connectivity options like AUX, USB, MP3, and Bluetooth. It also features DVD support and a reverse camera.

Engine

The 2019 Toyota Corolla Altis specs have got two engine options. There is a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder, In-line, 16-valve DOHC with Dual VVT-i engine that has got 139 PS of max power at 6400 rpm and 173 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. The other engine option is a more powerful 2.0-litre unit which churns out 145 PS at 6200 rpm and 187 Nm of torque at 3600 rpm. Both the engines are mated to Toyota’s CVT with 7-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic Mode.

Safety features

Toyota has included a number of safety features in the Corolla Altis. These are ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control and traction control, parking sensors, seven airbags, ISOFIX, etc.
