Toyota Camry price increased, now costs RM 196,888

KUALA LUMPUR: Toyota Malaysia recently released the revised price list of its entire lineup. A close observation of which shows that only Camry has witnessed a hike, rest all models reflect the same price tag as before.

The price tag of Toyota Camry 2.5V now read RM 196,888 (on road without insurance). Thus, making it RM 6,988 costlier than the previous tag, i.e., RM 189,000. In Malaysia, the Camry is offered as a CBU unit that’s imported from Thailand.

The D-segment sedan was launched last year at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show. It now sits on Toyota New Global Architecture platform and is no longer called the ‘uncle’s car’ and instead, it is known as the ‘Beautiful Moster’. The new TNGA platform adds a few millimeters to car’s length and width. Compared to the XV50, it sits a bit lower to the ground.

Powering the new Camry is a 2AR-FE 2.5-litre 4-cylinder mill that develops 184 PS of power and 235 Nm of peak torque. Sending the drive to the front axle is a 6-speed conventional automatic gearbox.

For RM 196,888 the Toyota Camry 2.5V offers automatic bi-LED projector headlamps with LED turn signals, 18-inch alloys, LED fog lamps, hydrophilic wing mirrors, and LED tail lights. The cabin, like the exterior, is feature rich and offers eight-inch touchscreen head unit with navigation, leather seats with eight-way powered front seats, a seven-inch color multi-info display, nine-speaker JBL audio system, a 10-inch color head-up display (HUD), and Optitron dials.

The Camry gets the Toyota Safety Sense as a standard fitment, it includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-collision System, Automatic High Beam, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. Also part of the sedan’s safety kit is tyre pressure monitoring system, even airbags (dual front, side, curtain, driver’s knee), hill start assist, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and front/rear parking sensors.

The car is available in five color tones - Burning Black CS, Platinum White Pearl Mica, Red Mica, Graphite Metallic, and Silver Metallic.
