This is BMW M’s most powerful SUV, the XM Label Red
KUALA LUMPUR: To mark its 50th-anniversary celebration, the motorsport division of BMW, unveiled the XM SUV last month. The performance model is the first electrified car to wear the BMW M badge and will be built at the brand's Spartanburg plant in the US. Well, now the automaker teased the Label Red version of it, which is touted as the most powerful production car in BMW M’s history.

The full reveal of the 2023 BMW XM Label Red will happen next year.The BMW XM Label Red is equipped with a high-revving 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 mill paired with an electric motor. The ICE delivers a maximum power output of 585 PS at 5,800 rpm and a peak torque of 750 Nm from 1,800 to 5,400 rpm while the e-motor is good for making 197 PS and 280 Nm. Combinedly, the setup generates a system output of 748 PS and 1,000 Nm. In comparison, the standard BMW XM makes 653 PS and 800 Nm.
Beyond higher output numbers, the BMW XM Label Red is also likely to get uprated suspension settings, braking setup, and tyres. However, the automaker has yet to reveal the detailed specifications.
This new beast also differentiates itself from the standard model with cosmetic bits such as red surrounds on the twin-kidney grille incorporating a red XM badge. We can also see the red accents on the distinctive alloy wheels and window lining.
As for the interiors of the 2023 XM Label Red, no information is yet available. However, it is likely to get a two-tone dash with all soft touchpoints, a head-up display, a multifunctional steering wheel, a large infotainment unit, premium leather upholstery, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, multiple airbags and advanced driver-assistance systems.
More details on the BMW XM Label Red are expected to roll out closer to its launch, which will happen next year.
Closer to home, BMW Malaysia has started accepting the pre-bookings for the standard BMW XM. The estimated pricing of the SUV is RM 1,400,000 for Peninsular Malaysia and RM 820,000 for Langkawi. Included in the price is a five-year extended warranty and service package.
