Subaru WRX STI S207 to be launched at 2015 Tokyo Motor Show

Kuala Lumpur: Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) has recently announced the official launch of Subaru WRX STI S207 at 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. The Japanese automaker will be manufacturing only 400 units of S207 (based on WRX STI) with upgraded engine and handling besides some significant interior and exterior improvements. The handling of WRX STI S207 has been improved through a quicker steering gear ratio of 11:1. The WRX STI based S207 also features original STI bits including a flexible tower bar, DampMatic II adjustable damping for the front suspension, front-rear active torque vectoring, Brembo six-pot brakes up front, four-pot brakes in the rear, mono block opposed-piston brake calipers, and drilled rotors.

The front fascia of Subaru WRX STI S207 features a large spoiler and a mesh-type front grille with cherry-red stripes. On the side, the S207 features black side garnish with STI emblem and metallic side sill add-ons.  At the rear, it has “S207" emblem and air outlets in the rear bumper lined with a cherry-red stripe.

The interior of S207 features leather-wrapped central instrument panel visor and steering wheel with silver stitching, STI-spec Recaro front bucket seats, black leather rear seats with silver stitching, red color instrument panel with luminescent effect and an S207 logo, accents on the main panels and side panels (side sill plates showcasing an S207 label) and door trims. The STI logo is also marked on start/stop button and the leather-wrapped shift knob.

The powertrain of Subaru WRX STI S207 will produce 323hp of power, which is 19.71hp more than JDM WRX STI. The WRX STI based S207 also gets a new ECU, twin-scroll ball bearing turbo, an STI-designed silicon intake duct, a performance muffler with lowered back pressure and a rear exhaust pipe down the back.

The Japanese automaker will also launch two additional Nurburgring 24-hour race-inspired packages, namely, the NBR Challenge Package and the NBR Challenge Package Yellow Edition. The exterior of the NBR Challenge Package rear emblem, a dry carbon rear spoiler with an S207 logo and STI-designed BBS 19-inch forged aluminium wheels in black.  Inside, it is equipped with an ultra suede-wrapped steering wheel with silver centre marking and red seatbelts. The other package, NBR Challenge Package Yellow edition features lesser enhancements including black side mirrors, yellow side sill plates with the S207 logo and the black side sill mouldings.
