Sneak Peek: W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Spotted Undisguised

Kuala Lumpur: While Mercedes-Benz is leaving no stone unturned to develop its next-gen E-Class (W213) in time for its global debut at 2016 Detroit Auto Show, walkoART has managed to film around 100 pre-production W213 E-Class prototypes parked in the open. The majority of cars were covered, but a few of them was almost undisguised for all to see. All the prototypes shown in the video are standard wheelbase models built on the Modular Rear-wheel Drive Architecture (MRA) platform which is also utilized by the W205 C-Class and W222 S-Class models.

The exterior of next-gen E-Class borrows styling cues from the larger C-Class and the smaller S-Class. As both of models flaunts Mercedes-Benz design language, W213 E-Class also features the same. Although the video mainly shows the profile of next-gen E-Class, its spy shots have already revealed that its front fascia is similar to the C-Class, featuring two different types of grille based on the model (Avantgarde, Exclusive etc.) The rear of the next-gen E-Class features the tailgate similar to that on the W222.

Inside, there are two LCD screens stretched almost the length of the dashboard while the one sitting near the middle of the dashboard to facilitate the COMAND infotainment system and other functions of the car. The next-gen E-Class also features a traditional analogue instrument binnacle. Here, the styling looks akin to the S-Class’ big trim piece that runs horizontally across the entire dashboard but it doesn't feature any buttons (excluding push-start button) as they are repositioned a little lower at the center console. In terms of technology, the next-generation E-Class model will be equipped with an upgraded version of the Multibeam adaptive LED headlight technology featuring expanded diode count from 24 to 84. It will also feature the smartphone integration technology to allow your pocket device serve as a key and guide the car in and out of a parking space via the Remote Parking Pilot Function.

When it comes to safety technologies, W213 E-Class gets upgraded Autonomous Emergency Braking and Pre-Safe systems besides a new Distance Pilot Distronic.
