Proton special edition models arriving on February 18

KUALA LUMPUR: The national automaker Proton is all set to kick off this year’s launches with the unveiling of four special edition models. The said versions are based on the brand’s legacy cars prior to its association with Chinese automaker Geely; the names are Persona Black Edition, Exora Black Edition, Iriz R3 Limited Edition, and Saga R3 Limited Edition.

The company teased the upcoming models on its ROI page recently with an announcement of their virtual launch event on February 18, 2021, at 11 am, which will be streamed live on Proton's Facebook page. The online bookings of the models will begin on the same day, however, customers can now register their interest on the company’s website. So, let’s check out what these models are expected to feature.

The R3 versions of the Iriz and Saga have been spotted a number of times on the local roads while transportation. Based on that, we can say that the cars will feature cosmetic changes along with carrying a black and yellow paint scheme throughout the exterior and interior. Included in the mods are a new set of black alloy wheels and new leather seats with the R3 logo. On the mechanical front, the same powertrain is expected, while suspension upgrades for better handling are likely to be there.

Talking about the Proton Persona Black Edition, it may wear the same designing theme as we have seen on the Proton Saga Anniversary Edition (pictured above). This we can say in the light of the fact that the special Saga was also known as the Black Edition internally. Like R3 models, the Persona Black is also supposed to be run on a new set of wheels.

Moving to the Exora Black edition, this special version came out as a surprise because prior to this there was no hint about its arrival. We assume that the automaker may apply the Persona Black treatment to the Exora also.

Well, to know what exactly the Proton special edition models will feature, we have to wait just a few days.
