Proton records 37.3% month-on-month sales growth in July 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: Just after opening the ordering books for the all-new X70, Proton has released its sales numbers for July 2024. During the month, the national automaker managed to sell a total of 15,103 cars, including exports. This represents an impressive month-on-month growth of  37.3% over the 10,999 units sold in June this year.

Speaking of the year-to-date numbers, Proton’s sales for the first seven months of the year stand at 88,799 units. The automaker continues to hold the second position in the Malaysian automotive market with an estimated share of 20.5%.

Let’s check out the model-wise performance -

• The Saga remains Proton’s best-selling car with 7,855 deliveries in July. The year-to-date figure stands at 42,693 units.
• The recently updated and Malaysia's favourite SUV, the X50, led the B-segment SUV category. The automaker sold 2,585 units in July, contributing to a year-to-date figure of  12,789 units.
• Proton Persona ended the month with 1,911 units, pushing its YTD sales to a total of 11,664.

• The Proton S70 was the country’s top-selling C-segment sedan last month with sales of 1,636 units, bringing the year-to-date figure to 12,550 units. 
• The Proton X70 contributed only 302 units to the monthly sales with stocks running low ahead of the 2025 Proton X70 launch. The year-to-date figure stands at 3,278 units.
• The Proton X90 continued to manage second position in the D-segment SUV category last month. A total of 277 SUVs sold during the month with the YTD figure standing at 2,266 units.

• Proton Iriz chipped in 537 units to the brand’s July numbers with the year-to-date figure now standing at 3,316.

“July has been the best sales month for Proton in 2024 so far, setting the tone for what we hope is a productive second half of 2024. There are many plans to be executed in the coming months, starting with the 2025 Proton X70, which will be officially launched in August. At the same time, the groundwork for the launch of Proton’s first EV model is also proceeding rapidly, which will lead to the launch of the first Malaysian EV,” said Proton Edar CEO Roslan Abdullah.
