Proton previews 2019 Persona, to launch later in March

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has previewed the Persona facelift and claimes that the car is designed with 303 tweaks. A couple of weeks earlier, some photos of this B-segment sedan were revealed. Also, the automaker has announced that the car will be launched alongside the facelifted Iriz, later this March. The all-new Iriz was also previewed a few days back by the company, check out. 

As mentioned earlier, the car comes with a host of features and a lot of changes both on the inside and outside. Inside the car, there is a new instrument cluster, which consists of a large multi-information display and the dials are cleaner than its previous iteration. The 2019 Proton Persona gets an inbuilt eSIM, which is a first-time addition to appear in this segment.

The vehicle gets the new black and beige color treatment. Also, there is a new fabric upholstery pattern inside the cabin. Moreover, the rear-view mirror is frameless, and there is a new gear knob. The car also features a new infotainment system, which has a seven-inch touchscreen. The new infotainment system is a variant of the Geely Smart Ecosystem (GKUI), which was developed with the collaboration of the ECARX.

The 2019 Proton Persona gets a completely new design at the front. The front grille now comes with the “Infinite Weave” pattern. It has a massive lower grille that appears slimmer than before. The rear bumper design has been revised with a chrome strip. The vehicle rides on dual-tone multi-spoke alloy wheels of 15-inch.

Moving on its oily bits, the facelifted Proton Persona comes with the same four-cylinder, 1.6-litre VVT petrol mill. It pumps out a maximum power of 107 hp, which comes at 5,750 rpm and the peak torque of 150 Nm coming at 4,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox or CVT.

Proton Malaysia has claimed that the CVT helps increase the mileage by around 4 percent. Also, the modifications are done to enhance the performance in terms of brakes and refinement.

The interested buyers can book the car at only RM 9.99. The booking opens from March 12th to 22nd.
