Proton 35th anniversary celebration on cards

KUALA LUMPUR: The heading says it all. Our dear Proton Saga has completed 35 long and strong years in the Malaysian automotive industry, and it is time to celebrate. The national carmaker has decided to commemorate the occasion by bringing up a special anniversary edition called the Black Edition Saga. The anniversary edition Saga will be introduced on 9th July 2020, the same day the sedan made its first official debut 35 years back in 1985.

The Black Edition Saga's arrival news came to us via a leaked slide image from a dealer's presentation that's doing rounds of the internet. As can be seen from the slide image above, it specifies the name and date of the Proton anniversary edition. In addition, the slide gives no more information, but the car in the picture and the name of the edition confirm a black exterior with some yellow highlights on the grille and outer rear view mirror. A few sources, like Paultan.com, also talks about the availability of red highlights on the exterior.

On Proton's official website, the automaker is running a slogan contest, wherein the participants will have to cast a vote to one of the three predetermined slogans -

• Slogan 1- Saga, Driving Malaysians
• Slogan 2- Saga, Ilhamku, Kebanggaanku
• Slogan 3- Raikan, Saga

The Saga slogan contest began on 5th July and will end on 8th July. You can check the terms and conditions of the contest on Proton's website. Besides, it's not a simple click and vote situation, as one needs to justify his/her choice. According to Proton, a total of 8 prizes are up for grabs, first being RM 3,350 worth of Shopee voucher. Second and third runner-ups will get Shopee vouchers worth RM 2,350 and RM 1,350, respectively.
