Porsche Communication Management 6.0 revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: Porsche has revealed the 6th gen Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system. It will be seen put to use in the Panamera, 911, and Cayenne beginning this summer. The PCM 6.0 not only features revised software but also a new hardware architecture that supports several new features and comes with a revised user interface as well.
PCM 6.0 key highlights -
- Revised icon designs
- New font type & colour scheme
- Larger than before touch area
- Improved Voice Pilot function (driver simply has to utter the activation phrase ‘Hey Porsche’ followed by a command)
- Can perform faster calculations for navigation system
- Less cluttered map view
- Traffic info presented in different colours depending on the situation
- 300 programmed international circuits
- Ability to teach car's performance
- Display Porsche Track Precision app on touchscreen
The Porsche Communication Management 6.0 even supports Android Auto, however, a cable connection is required. The Apple CarPlay meanwhile gets wireless support and Apple Music continues to be a standard built-in inclusion. Regardless of the ecosystem, PCM offers Google Assistant and Siri virtual assistance.
Furthermore, the PCM 6.0s companion app like before allows drivers to access various connected features like remote door lock & unlock and telematics. For models with a hybrid powertrain and the Taycan, the application can show the car's status in regard to available range and battery charge. Users' personal data, like smartphone calendar entries.
