Peugeot unveils 508 Sport Engineered Concept ahead of the Geneva debut
KUALA LUMPUR: Peugeot has brought a new plug-in hybrid concept, the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered that will make its world premiere at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Based on the Peugeot 508 Hybrid, the new model also marks the beginning of the brand’s electrification push, which means the company will electrify all of its upcoming models.
Coming back to the concept, the exterior features a Selenium Grey paint that changes shades under different lighting conditions. The door mirrors get a carbon fibre finish. The front grille gets a sharp look and an anodised emblem.
The aerodynamics of the Peugeot Sport Engineered have shown improvements. Changes on the exterior are done to improve the ventilation management, including a splendid 3D-printed valance and floating blades that are specifically arranged to lead air to the radiator. This overall modification changes the appearance of the front bumper. The quarter fenders also get wings for better air ventilation.
Peugeot claims that it would offer improved acceleration to reach 0-100 kmph in just 4.3 seconds, thanks to the three engines consisting of a PureTech 200 gasoline, a front 110hp electric engine, and a rear 203hp electric motor. The battery capacity of the vehicle remains the same, i.e. 11.8 kWh that delivers up to 50km of WLTP all-electric range.
“Electrification provides a marvellous opportunity to develop new driving sensations. We are creating a 'neo-performance,' new energy sources, new features, new territories, new challenges… sheer pleasure for only 49g of CO2/km.” states CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato.
