Peugeot to initiate production of its high-performance 508 Sport Engineered Concept
KUALA LUMPUR: According to a recent report, the French automotive manufacturer, Peugeot is soon going to initiate the production process of its high-performance 508 Sport Engineered Concept, that was revealed by the company in February. The company’s CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato disclosed the fact while answering a journalist’s query on a social networking platform.
Last year, the Groupe PSA revealed its plan to electrify all models from 2019, which precisely indicated that every vehicle made by Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Vauxhall, and Opel would be electrified as part of the group’s plan for clean mobility. So, the news of the 508 Sport Engineered’s about-to-happen production is a significant mark in the company's electrification plan.
Speaking about the 508 Sport Engineered Concept, the vehicle is heavily furnished with sporty fits and comes with revamped aerodynamics. The new super sedan is covered with a specially designed Selenium Grey paint that can change to different colors under different lighting conditions. The LED units are canine-shaped and run beside the headlamps. Furthermore, the front gets a reprofiled apron with a 3D-printed valance, which allows channelling of air into the radiator.
On the other hand, the aerodynamics is tweaked with new flaps on the subframe, and tiny winglets feature on the quarter panel to reduce air resistance.
The interior comes with leather/Alcantara sports seats that are stitched with contrast Kryptonite, asymmetrical tightly packed steering wheel. It also gets a fully digital Sport Engineered-themed 12.3-inch instrument panel, as well as an “all Kryptonite” 10-inch high-resolution touchscreen infotainment display.
The powerhouse of the super sedan includes an advanced PureTech 200 engine coupled with two electric motors. The two e-motors work separately on the front and rear wheels delivering a power output of 112hp and 203hp, respectively. The car can reach from 0 to 100 kmph within 4.3-second and can attain a top speed of 250 kmph, as claimed by the French automaker.
