Next-gen Honda Accord patent images leaked

KUALA LUMPUR: The next-gen Honda Accord is in making and confirming the news where the sedan’s spy images clicked last month. Further, solidifying the news are the patent images that reveal Honda’s take on Accord’s design language.

The said patent images have been filed by the automaker with the Brazilian government and reveal several key details about the sedan. For instance, the upcoming Accord showcases a brand-new trapezoidal grille, revised & slim headlights, a fresh bumper, and a narrow lower grille opening.

As for the sedan’s side and rear profile, it features a swooping roofline, a new rear end design, a new taillight stretching all the way to the car’s centreline, and a new rear bumper resembling the one seen on the Civic.

As for the new Accord’s cabin, though no details are shared we expect a revamp. The sedan should receive a cleaner overall appearance with advanced technology and features.What engine will power the next-gen Accord?

Honda has not revealed any information on the upcoming Accord’s powertrain. The current model, however, is powered by a 192 hp 1.5-litre 4-cyl mill or a 252 hp 2.0-litre turbo unit. Also, part of the current line-up is a hybrid model with a non-turbo 2.0-litre and an e-motor making 212 hp.

Honda has already confirmed a new, redesigned Accord hybrid and it will be introduced after the CR-V Hybrid unveiling. With the latter already revealed and set to go on sale before the year-end, the new Accord’s debut should be next on the automaker's agenda. So, the next-gen Accord will arrive later this year or early next year.
